Da discussão nasce a luz, e discutir abre os nossos horizontes, faz-nos questionar as nossas certezas, reforça laços e cumplicidades.
Insights often spring from a clash of ideas, and the debates open our horizons, make us question our truths, reinforce ties and complicities.
Gosto de conversar, de discutir ideias e de aprender coisas novas que delas nascem. Gosto de aprender com os outros.
I like a good conversation, to discuss ideas and learn new things that arise from them. I like to learn from others' ideas.
Mas nem todas as discussões são assim: algumas são estéreis e não levam a lado nenhum. Veja-se o caso de algumas reuniões intermináveis que, não só não têm utilidade, como nos fazem perder tempo e produtividade.
But not all discussions are born equal: some are useless and lead to nowhere. It's the case of some endless meetings that are not only pointless but also waste our time and productivity.
Nas discussões, sejam elas quais forem, faço sempre o exercício de analisar se são inúteis ou, pior, preconceituosas ou maledicentes. E se achar que são, nem abro a boca.
In the debates, whatever they may be about, I always try to see whether they are useless or, even worse, preconceived or harmful in some way. And if I reasonably conclude they are, I don't even open my mouth.
Já fui acusada de não me envolver, de não ter opinião ou mesmo nem darem por mim, porque fico a observar de fora, como se estivesse noutro planeta, a investir o tempo nos meus pensamentos.
I have already been accused of not getting involved nor having an opinion. Sometimes I just get unnoticed, as an outsider or even from another planet, absent-minded, investing that time in my thoughts.
E é mesmo assim. Cheguei a uma fase da vida que não me dou ao trabalho, não tenho paciência para gastar o meu tempo e verbo em discussões estéreis ou em conversa de chacha. Preocupando-me com outras coisas, para estas estou-me, basicamente, nas tintas.
Yes, that's what I do. I have reached a stage of life I don't even bother, nor have the patience to waste my time and talk in useless discussions or small talk. I rather spend my time doing the things I love and don't give a damn about what people say.
Mas quando a conversa é boa e interessante, fico entusiasmada.
É tão bom ouvir os outros, e dar a nossa opinião também!
Não se esqueça: uma conversa é um diálogo.
E ouvir é tão importante como falar.
Ou ainda mais.
Seja um bom ouvinte.
E oiça com o coração!
But when the discussion is good and interesting, I get excited and involve myself in it with all my heart.
It's so good to hear the others, and give our opinion too!
Don't forget: a conversation is always a dialogue.
And listening is as important as talking.
Or even more.
Be a good listener.
And hear with your heart!
