A Real-Life Superhero
This past Sunday was dedicated to the Fathers in our lives. To all the dads out there, HAPPY BELATED FATHER’S Day! My son and I took the time to celebrate and appreciate the father in our little family; my husband and one super hero of a dad! This dude puts up with A LOT! He has one crazy wife who keeps wanting to add to the crazy, a son who has a keen knack for driving the crazy up the river and a dog whose job is to add the cherry on top. Through it all, he loves us, he supports us and he comes out the other end with a smile on his face (for the most part).
I met my hubby almost 16 years ago. We met on a New Year’s Eve and no jokes, it was love at first sight. Because we were still young our relationship had some real rocky moments at the beginning, but we’ve been married for 8 years now and we have a solid and happy marriage. Together we have overcome so much and achieved so much too!
We started our home life together with hardly a scratch of furniture and mediocre jobs. Now we have a successful business and a cosy home to call our own. When we decided to grow our family, we were both astounded when we were told we were unlikely to conceive children, well, we accepted that and decided to grow our family any way, we started our adoption journey together. And boy what a journey it was! This journey brought us even closer together and proved again what we are capable of as a team.
Adoption is not everyone’s option and often for men it is a more complex notion to come to terms with. You are expected to love a child who is not born to you, a complete stranger. Well, my husband embraced this. He loved our son from the moment we first laid eyes on him. He made this child his own and continues to pour his love and time in to him.
This is what makes a super hero.
Today I want to thank this man, this father of ours, for all that he does, for his dedication to us and for the patience that we are constantly testing. He loves us unconditionally (and trust me, we are constantly throwing conditions his way). How blessed are we?
Really beautiful @sweetpea. It always warms my heart when I read posts like this.
Love how you describe yourself!
What a great tribute to the man you love!
Love at first sight and full of sweetness. You are a very loving wife from just what I read your love would just go stronger thru the years. You are blessed to have great husband and that is true love which is unconditional. More blessings to you and your family.
This is a lovely way to show gratitude towards the person you love! Great post! <3
