Science of Sex #8: Sexual Activity during Pregnancy
Does sexual activity frequency during pregnancy differ to “usual” sex frequency ?
Pregnancy is a special period in a woman's life; the goal of this work was to gather information and to describe the changes and behavior of sexual experiences during pregnancy.
This study was designed in Taiwan and published in Sexual medicine.
Mains resuts are: “THREE THEMES EMERGED: negative aspects of sexual experiences; stress and emotional responses; and changes in sexual practices. The majority of the women stopped engaging in coital activities during pregnancy. […] The current evidence-based findings encourage the provision of sexuality education to newlyweds and the discussion of sex-related issues during pregnancy.”
I think that this Asian work is not really representative of West countries and that european and US women have more sex during pregnancy than women included in this work. However, there is virtually no true scientific data (excluding various surveys with a lot of bias) on this topic in Western countries! I find it crazy enough…
