Analingus Is The New Oral Sex
Perhaps you’ve got an image in your mind of a properly dressed housewife from the 1950s holding a whisk and pointing her finger. Beside her, there’s a word bubble that states, “I’m not putting that thing anywhere near my mouth!” Today, it’s an image that elicits a degree of irony. When it comes to doin' it, things that people used to not even talk about have become commonplace. If cultural cues are any indication, analingus, or “eating the booty,” has become extremely common amongst sexually active young people. Here’s why analingus is the new oral sex.
The Taboo Effect: It’s pretty standard that what is considered taboo fades with time. Any sexual activity that involved the butt has been among the last sexual taboos. Like any taboo, anal sex eventually became more commonplace, leaving analingus as one of the very last of a dying breed of taboos. It seems that finally even analingus has lost its taboo status.
Age of Anal: A 2011 National Health Statistics study by the CDC shows that 36 percent of women and 44 percent of men have had anal sex. Considering that anal sex was hardly even talked about a few decades ago, this is a profound statistic, not far from half of the population is having anal sex.
Anal Virgins: The anal virgin has become a regularly discussed subject amongst young people and now, in TV and film. However, in this case, “anal virgin” may not mean what you think. In this sense, it refers to the popularity of young women who “save themselves” for marriage by only participating in anal sex. The practice was originally popular amongst catholic school girls but has spread, likely by word of mouth to the larger youth population.
Female Anal in Porn: Women receiving anal sex in adult film has become so popular that, at this point, it’s practically a staple. The demand for anal in adult film is such that many directors don’t cast performers who won’t do it.
Kylie Sinner: Kylie Sinner says she was a band geek and overachiever in high school. Once she graduated, however, she took a sharp turn and entered the adult industry. Sinner is one of a new breed of performers that only participate in anal sex. Sinner has been in a number of adult films and is still technically a virgin. The reason for this, in part, is because of a condition that Sinner suffers from called vaginismus which causes the vaginal muscles to constrict during sex.
Nicki Blue: Nicki Blue is another adult performer who fell under the anal virgin category and performed solely in anal scenes. Suffering from vaginismus, Blue preferred oral and other kinds of sex in relation to the anus. She eventually took part in a “deflowering scene” which amounted to a long and ultimately painful experience.
Male Anal In Porn: The 1990s ushered in a short-lived trend of women performing analingus on men in adult film. Beforehand, the act was very uncommon in adult movies. However, more recently with hardcore performers like Nacho Vidal, there’s been a resurgence of female on male analingus in adult film and it’s become much more hardcore.
Sex is Everywhere: Today's generation of adults grew up with the internet which means, among other things, that they grew up with adult content. Unlike generations before, they grew up watching sex that included oral and anal. In today’s adult films, analingus is simply a part of oral sex. Therefore, anal sex and analingus seem commonplace to Generation Y.
Male Rappers: One of the most predominant reasons for booty eating’s rise in popularity is its prominence in hip-hop. For the past few years, references to analingus in hip-hop have become incredibly common by some of the most well-known rappers. Examples include Action Bronson, “Catch me driving with an actress getting my a** licked,” and Tyler The Creator, “Felines on the free time, I’m tossing salads and eating up they croutons."
Female Rappers: As common as it’s become for male rappers to talk about analingus, female rappers are probably even more responsible for the popularity of the sex act. Notable examples include Nicki Minaj rapping, “Somebody point me to the best a** eater.” Arguably the popularity of the song “My Neck, My Back,” is most responsible for the phenomenon, considering that so many members of the now-adult generation grew up hearing the analingus-centric song.
Television: One of the year’s most talked about TV moments took place on HBO’s Girls in a scene between main character, Marine and her love interest, Desi. The extremely graphic scene of actress Allison Williams having analingus performed on her elicited lots of chatter in the media. Williams stated that the scene was executed using movie magic, and vanilla cake. However, people seemed most interested in hearing what Williams’ newscaster father Brian Williams thought about the whole thing. Brian Williams did his best to answer queries about his daughters analingus scene in as droll a way as possible.
Radio: Among the media outlets that reacted enthusiastically to the Girls scene was the Howard Stern Show. Stern has since discussed analingus “or rimming” at length on the show. The popular comedy Podcast Desus Vs. Mero also discussed the subject stating, "any girl that doesn’t eat the butt is immature.”
The Butt Obsession: There’s no denying it, we live in the age of the butt. Whether it’s Kim K balancing a champaign glass on her booty, women getting cheek implants, or the twerk phenomenon, our culture now worships the butt.
Younger Sex: In 2015, people are having sex younger and younger. Where it was once unspeakable to imagine a teen having sex, it’s now become a regular occurrence. When people start having sex at an early age, there’s more time to be sexually active in general. Also, given more time to experiment, sex is likely to become more varied.
Hygiene: Living in an extremely hygiene-conscious society, the dangers associated with analingus are limited. E.coli and other diseases can be spread through analingus and during times where clean water was less readily available, laying off the booty was probably a good idea. Today though, with a hygienic partner, there’s no reason not to explore.
