True Love
Do you believe at love at first sight?
If so, you must be blind. I would rather believe the saying "love is blind". For me, this is the true love.
You may wonder why a super beauty married an ugly man or vice-versa. Or, an abled body person marrying a handicapped or disabled. Or, a tall one wedding a shorty. Or, inter marriages between different nationalities.
There may be more cases of love is blind, but like I said this kind of marital relationship is more lasting than love at first sight. There must be that powerful element or "force" in it than just mere physical attraction that bind them together as one.
On the other hand, love at first sight is based on physical attraction alone. It is not deep love and rarely last a long time. It is usually a short term or whirlwind type of relationship. It will fade sooner or later when their brains over power their hearts. That's why divorce is prevalent in many countries more particularly in the West.
Because of more stringent cultural, moral values and ancestral practices, Asians are less vulnerable to divorce.
Love at first sight is an animal instinct.
Why do female birds fall for the male bird with the brightest or most colorful plummage and the loudest coo? An example is of the peacock specie. Same with a lioness who would prefer a male lion with the thickest and brightest mane. Why this? Well, end result is mating of course! I am no biologist but I guess this instinct also applies to other animals or perhaps even insects.
A love born out of learning, knowing and understanding each others' physical and mental attributes for a longer period of time will be more lasting. In other words, COMPATIBILITY is the main essence of a solid marriage.
Love at first sight is dangerous. It is a one way affair. That amorous feeling may not be so with the subject of affection. And that subject will more likely take advantage of this situation. The consequence will be absolutely short-lived. That's why our Creator gave man a brain far superior to any animal in the world. Meaning, it's the mind over the heart that MUST prevail in order to ensure a strong and lasting union.
I also believe in the saying, "HASTE MAKES WASTE".
Hey guys, know what? I now just realized that I am writing about myself here. I am a "pretty" (hehehe) middle aged provincial lass who up to now is free and unattached. Perhaps it's either I am that "blind", or I don't have a "brain" at all! LOL!

Yes you are absolutely right normally love at first sight easily fade in the dust of time.. Here people marry on the behalf of parents.. No doubt problem also arise in such relation also but families support both help them in solving issues and stop them to be so agresive to divorce.. Divorce cases are rare.. Once i read a quotation of a wise man named abu al aala modode.. He said the first few years the in the marital relation love is due to sex or need.. After that few years are that in which you remains calm with need base love but after 8 or 9 years the actual love start to develop between couple and with time it goes strong and strong.. I think i forgot some exact quoation but its true after 8 or 9 years of living together we understand each other well and problems are solved feelin of love become strong.. I believe that love is a decision. Yes there are part that emotions will take part but for me it is more than the emotions we feel for that certain person. It includes commitment, maturity, faith and keeps no records of wrong hehe. Iba talaga perspective ko sa love kahit na wala pang experience. Lol. Hehehe
