What Valentine Means To Me - A Valentine Freewrite

Decades ago, St. Valentine, the white-bearded priest
Who is today our revered hero
Chose love above traditions
When he drove the bolts
That eternally held two bodies in one soul.

Therefore, Valentine is a special day
A day to break the ice of traditions
And put on the garment of humanity
By showing love differently
To those who need it:

A kiss to the lips of the forgotten
A pat to the back of the downtrodden
A handshake to the fatherless
A smile to the face of the hopeless
These are what Valentine means to me.
