HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY

Happy Valentine’s day everyone!! How’s the day going for you?

Valentine’s day is a special day that has a history behind it. There are several versions of this history, some saying Valentine was a priest who performed weddings for soldiers when it was illegal to do so and was arrested and executed for it. Another one says Valentine was a priest who angered Roman Emperor Claudius II when he refused to convert to paganism and was executed but before his execution he healed the eyes of the daughter of his jailer and was able to convert both the jailer’s daughter and her household into Christianity.

Despite all the versions of the history behind it we all know that Valentine’s day is a day of showing love, not just romantic love but love to everyone. Showing love to our neighbors, our relatives, our co-workers, that lonely old man on your street, that man or woman you see every day on your way to work or school.

Recently I have noticed that some people have turned Valentine’s day to something else. They want expensive gifts from their partners and then come to social media to show off like it’s a competition. Some even hook up with a guy or girl close to Valentine’s day so they can get gifts and show others so they can feel among or if they get a cheap gift they don’t appreciate it. There is no love, only vanity. It shouldn’t be so, Valentine’s day is a day to show love, love can be shown in several ways. I might not have much but just thinking of getting you something or sending a nice message means that I care.

So today let’s show love to the people around us, not just your partner or girlfriend/boyfriend. Take your mum out, your sisters or brothers, your best friend, anybody .Say kind words to people, help people. You can even celebrate it on steemit, do a steem or SBD giveaway or just browse around and upvote and comment on people post. It might brighten up someones day.

Even after Valentine’s day we should keep showing love, it shouldn’t just end today. I challenge you all to keep this attitude for the 365 days of the year and I feel with that the world will truly get better. Don't you think so too?
