VALENTINE'S DAY: the lamentations of a single man/the joy of fresh love

in #love7 years ago (edited)

()()OK So I woke up today a bit sad, having memories of good times when I had a flourishing relationship, having someone to call, to visit, exchange gifts and sweat words of love and affection. It wasn't the memories that made me sad, but the reminder that just in the twinkle of an eye the relationship was all gone, evaporated like methylated spirit poured out on a dry surface, probably never to return.
What made it worse is the fact that in the days preceding this, I had received so many calls and chats from friends asking me how I was going to spend valentines day, and with whom? I guess that put more pressure on the already strained emotions. Funny enough some comrades of mind in "the single men's forum" have the champions league as a viable distraction, to them "football is bae". Well football has never been my thing, how then do I distract myself from the reminder of a love lost? nintchdbpict000384799917.jpg Alas I'll do what I love doing the most, saving lives 😃. You see am a Dr and I have fallen so in love with the stethoscope, the syringe, the thermometer, the sphygmomanomether not forgetting the ward coats, all that is needed to save lives. The joy it gives to see the smile on the faces of people whose hopes have been restored as they see their loved once erstwhile condemned to death by their ailments being restored to full health, I have fallen in love with the colleagues Doctors, nurses, laboratory scientists, pharmacists and others I work with to deliver a wholesome healthcare to the teaming masses of sick people.DSC_0121-54.jpg These colleges who were mere aquintances at the start of our work together have gradually over the months become best of friends and now family being there for me through thick and thin, sharing the joyful moments of the birth of a baby, and the sorrowful moment of the death of a patient, working together day and night, in the rain and in the sun, with or without salaries these hero friends of mine have indeed paid the ultimate sacrifice and so have gained so much love and respect in my heart. Today once again I am happy, for where I lost the love of one, I have gained the love of many others.
A big shout-out to all the house officers and health workers at ABSUTH, happy Valentine's Day to you all
