Chapter 2- When love meets fairytale mind

Chapter 1

Ella hurried to the salon, she wanted everything to be perfect. She didn’t want her hair to be messy for this day. Dave was just her best friend until now. They have been the best of the closest friends they each other had. This was the first time she was meeting him after they both have moved to different places. And now Dave is coming to meet her with a proposal to be part of his life. She didn’t know the answer yet but she thought of meeting him and find out how it turns out.

She waited at the airport. All nervous and shaking, this has never happened before. She loves airports but this is the first time she got those shivering waiting at the arrivals. She kept her busy by scrolling down on her phone and then checking the time. She lost it when the flight arrived and moved behind the pillar she could find next to her. She had no idea how to face him.

There he was, in all yellow T-shirt and all grown up, he looked older than the guy she knew from their college days. With the well-trimmed beard and mustache, he was a man now, not the boy she used to hang out.

Ella played it cool, saying “Hi, it has been a long time!” still trembling a little bit but hiding it she shook his hand and he handed over the bag to her. It was for her, full of her favorite chocolates. He was also shaken, with the embarrassment, happiness and a lot of mixed emotions. “You changed your hair, you never straighten it, for me?”, his eyes glittered.

Ella blushed and could not even look at his face. They blushed, he already knew the answer and she was sure she is in trouble. They walked outside of the airport stairs and talked about how they different they look from the last time they met.

They decided to take a taxi and that is when Ella hugged him, she hugged him tight and he kept her closer to his heart. “Is that a Yes?” he whispered “are you my girlfriend?”.

Ella couldn’t let go of his grip and pressed her head on his chest. It was just perfect, all doubts went away in a moment but she still had many questions left in her. Too many of them unanswered. She said “Yes” and the hugged him closer. The entire taxi ride they held their hands, looked at each other and could not control blushing. They were happy but Ella had a strong headache with many questions boiling inside. Something was not right for her, something still felt wrong.

The next one week they spent together, talking and sharing everything in their life. The beaches witnessed their young new love. They let their worries go with the wind and waves.

It was time to part in different parts of the world. They still talked to each other but now it was all different. She was not just someone he argued and fought with but she was everything to him. He would do anything to make her happy. He would sketch her and make art thinking of her, and it was just perfect.

Ella had a very different take on the relationship. She could not believe in something that has no future. She could not accept that someone who loves her this much will be ready to let her go in the future. Every time Dave insisted on enjoying the moment and asked her to forget about the future she just could not stop! The fights started to pick up and all Ella wanted was to end the relationship. She knew Dave is not going to stand up for his decisions. She knew he just would let her go if a situation comes up to that. She wanted to end it and be back to her normal life.

For now, the fights had started and with every fight, Ella ended the relationship. Dave begged her to stay but she strongly believed its better not to be in a relationship that has no future. Ella knew herself better than anyone else, she knew how hard it would become for her to come out of heartbreak. She had a broken heart with major trust issues.

Dave never left her side. He came back every time she threw him out of her life. He cried when into depression and still came back for her. She knew she didn’t want it to happen but she took him back every time he came back. Ella slowly started to feel the difference in her. She found herself think twice before she did the things she did. She thought thrice before she spoke but still couldn’t express herself. Dave felt worthless in their relationship but still tried hard to keep it going. He loved her so much but Ella kept thinking about the future for that was what she learned from the fairytale movies. To have a happily ever after.

Four years went by, they fought every other day, got up every other month and it went on and on. It was not a perfect relationship. It was not a perfect life and they both didn’t have a life of their dreams.

Ella still believed in love and this was just not it. Dave always tried to convince this is how real life works. Sitting in two hemispheres of the earth, they lied their reality.
