Ines de Castro y el Rey Pedro de Portugal
Inés de Castro era dama de compañía de la segunda esposa de Pedro de Portugal y rápidamente se robó su corazón. Tras la muerte de la reina en 1349, Pedro intentó hacer a la gallega su tercera esposa y por ende, futura soberana del reino. Sin embargo, ni la corte ni el padre de Pedro estaban de acuerdo con su relación, e Inés fue asesinada.
Cuando Pedro finalmente se convirtió en Rey reveló su matrimonio secreto a Inés en 1354 y ordenó que desde entonces fuera considerada reina.
Antes de morir, Pedro ordenó que fueran enterrados pies contra pies en lugar de uno junto al otro, para que el Día del Juicio Final, al resucitar, lo primero que vieran fueran sus rostros.
