ICO Spotlight | Lordmancer II - The First MMORPG That Gamers Will Be Able To Mine Cryptocurrencies
When I was younger, a considerable amount of my time was monopolized playing video games. That was a time before I was married and three kids. Naturally, my time is prioritized differently now.
These days I wonder if I’ll have another re-prioritization of time when the kids are older, or when I’m in retirement, that will put gaming near the top. I know, I know, it’s a pipe-dream, but stranger things have occurred.
I still have some gaming blood flowing through me. Yes, I yearn for glory. So, when I came across the news that Active Games, LLC MMORPG Lordmancer II, was doing an ICO, my heart skipped a beat. Here are two things I love: gaming and cryptocurrencies and Active Games was combining them!
What a great way to make gaming….um….a more productive endeavor! I can see a new generation of teenagers telling Mom and Dad that they don’t to get a summer job because they just completed an epic crypto farming set.
Social impacts aside, Lordmancer II is entering in what might become the new standard for mobile gaming.
GAME OVERVIEW
Lordmancer II is a multiplayer free-to-play online role playing game on Android and iOS.

Lordmancer II will offer the following three (3) in-game currencies:

Game-to-player Trades | If a player buys something from the game (not another player), e.g. weapon or a boost, the game will burn 0% of spent LCs, and move the remaining 10% to a special account called Game Funds |
Player-to-player | If a player buys something from another player, tokens remain in Lordmancer Wallet. The game only changes states of inlvolved players' game accounts. With each trade, the game takes a 20% commision. Half of it is burned and the other half moves to the Game Funds special account. |
Active Games will use Game Funds to cover server costs, player support, marketing activities etc.
In the event that LCs are depleted to the point where they are not usable for the game, Active Games has a plan to introduce a new token. LC holders will be able to trade in for the new token (see example image below). This process will repeat as necessary.

FINAL THOUGHTS
Introducing the possibility to profit in gaming isn't new, and video games has had a history of experimentation with the concept (e.g. Team Fortress 2, DOTA 2, Second Life, Diablo III) with mixed results.
A lot of the criticism is that wealthy gamers could buy their way to glory instead of using skill. In other words, its not an equal playing field. It's a valid point, but I think gamers these days know that equality is largely a fantasy. Someone might have more skill, time, money, cheat, and buy items on gaming black markets.
Overall, I see the introduction of cryptocurrency gaming economies as an natural evolution to the gaming market, and I expect more gaming companies to copy Lordmancer II.
