Relocating to London

Are you thinking of relocating to London? That is a great idea! Relocating to London from any country is a better move in one's life. You may want to attend their university or have a job that requires you to move there. It might also be that you will have to move there with your partner or you are going to join family who already lives there. It's good, but you will have to know some things about London.

Immigration and Visas
Relocating to London is a great dream, and one thing that should come to your mind when relocating to a different country is to be determined whether you are going to qualify to move there. There is no problem if you are relocating to London from the European Union as you are qualified automatically to live and work within any of the member states. But you will need to get the necessary visa if you are hoping to relocate to London from any part of the world. You can visit the official website of the Home Office and UK Border Agency and apply online to make the process much easier than it used to be. Moreover, depending on your reason for relocation, there are different types of visas available.

Finding the Perfect Home
You will have to decide on the type of house you will like to live in once you have decided on the area of London you wish to move to. There are different kinds of living accommodation in London, and you may also be confused because they have some terms they use. For instance, des-res means desired residence, a flat is what you might know better as an apartment, and a two up-two down is two rooms upstairs, two rooms downstairs house.

Opening a Bank Account
When you are relocating to London, even for a short period, it is important that you have a UK bank account. It may be very difficult for you to carry out day to day actions such as paying your rent or mortgage, getting a mobile phone (cell phone), paying utility bills, buying items such as a car without an account. The largest UK banks are Barclays, Lloyds TSB HSBC, and NatWest. Many banks offer incentives for you to join them since banking is a competitive market in the London.
