Why are we still acquiring pitchers?
Hi .
These guys would not be here in 2-3 years when we are competitive again so you might as well get anything you can for them now. That’s how rebuilds work. We are on our way for another number one pick. Gonna be fun here in a couple of years.
why fans are so desperate to keep a 31 year old closer with no history of success beyond this year on a team that loses every game. You d'nt need a closer when you're losing. Common sense. As for Nick, hes a mediocre hitter hitting below .300 (and has his whole career) that is infamous for being atrocious in RF and was literally leaving once this season was over. Hes a rental for the Cubs. There was no market to flip Nick. Avila did very well.
Even though I'm happy to see the Tigers acquire more pitching for the farm system, it is good to see that they did get one player who is close to Major League ready in Travis Demeritte. I know a lot of fans on here are unhappy with Al Avila and the job he's done, but he's turning the Tigers' farm system from one of the worst to one of the best. Soon the big club will really see the results of these trades of the veteran players and fan favorites. Houston and Kansas City did it this way and it resulted in WS wins. Keep the faith Tiger fans.
I was in Kansas when Wentz was drafted and scouts had good things to say. Demeritte was available in the Rule 5 draft and Detroit passed twice on him. I'm sure AA will say that there wasn't much of a market or that it dried up. When you ask for the moon and starts from the get-go, I guess you try to salvage something at the end. Wish they could have gotten Waters.
