LFC Post-Game Wrap
Liverpool handled Manchester United today, winning emphatically 3-1. This win breaks a losing streak to the Devils dating back to 2014! This win is huge for 'pool, not only to advance their title chances, but break their multi-year slump against one of the big boys. Liverpool currently sit atop the table with Man City trailing by a single point.
Liverpool controlled possession all throughout this game, yet let the pesky Mourinho tactics keep ManU alive for too long, considering the overwhelming stats in Liverpool's favor. Their first goals comes from a burst of effort from Bobby Firmino and a deft chip from Fabinho to Mane who combos a controlled chest trap with a clinical finish to put Liverpool up early. However, soon after Man U steal a goal off the run of play from a rare folly from Liverpool's keeper Allison, who fumbles a crossed ball spilling it right to Lindgard who touches it in.
The game turned after the 70th' when Klopp sends Shaqiri for added offensive power. The move pays off in spades as Shaqiri slots home a pair for his new team, continuing his stellar freshman season with Liverpool. In the end, Shaqiri's goals squander any last minute chance of a ManU comeback and Liverpool clinches a historic win in Anfield.
