Foods that help repair the liver
This is a follow-up to a blog post I did several months back for those that want to quit or cut down on alcohol consumption. The top five foods that help repair the liver.
Garlic: Although it doesn't smell very good garlic activates liver enzymes helping the body flush out toxins. Garlic has allicin and selenium, natural compounds for cleansing liver.
Grapefruit: Vitamin C and antioxidants that help cleanse liver
Beets/Carrots: Beta carotene supports liver function
Leafy Green Vegetables: Chlorophyll soaks up toxins in the blood stream.
Avocados: Avocados produce glutathione, a compound made by three amino acids which is necessary for the liver to cleanse toxins.
Lastly it is important to drink plenty of regular old water.
