THE FORERUNNERS, A One-Act Play - Sharing One's Piece during College Days
Ok but before you think of something else of this piece, let me tell you first about the ins and outs of this particular work I've had way back in college. It is a project asked by Our professor in Creative Writing Dr. Angel O. Pesirla. It is a script derived from a poem entitled "Genealogy". As the subject name suggests Creative Writing, then we have to therefore activate our minds in creating an imagination-drive story out from our original poem we previously created. However, since to tell you honestly, Im not really fond of writing so you expect it not be really as good as the typical script you've read. But for me, atleast you just get something out from it and I'm already good at it.
So without further ado, allow me to unveil this script of a play:
Characters:
Josh – resentful
Debbie - Bookish
David – Campus Crush
Zek - Neird Guy
Archie – Guardian Angel
Scene 1
BUS DRIVER : Are all in already? We'll go now.
JOSH : Wait…
BUS DRIVER : Late? LATE again Josh. What else is new…
ZEK : Josh, here, I reserved a seat for you. Just don’t mind them…
JOSH : As if it’s still new to me Zek.
ZEK : Anyway, how was the party last night? Did you enjoy it? Was there anyone you found interesting? Oh, don’t tell me…
JOSH : Shut up zek, let’s not talk about it. Anyway, are you now already done with our homework in English?
ZEK : Homework in English? But that was still last week. Don’t tell me you just haven’t passed yet. Wait is there something wrong with you Josh? You seem different today and it’s like you’re not on your usual self.
JOSH : Zek, there’s a strange thing that happened to me last night.
ZEK : What? Is this in connection with your experience last night in the club? Oh, don’t tell me…
JOSH : Stop making suppositions Zek, this one’s really serious.
ZEK : Ah, okay so what was it then
JOSH : Last night, I dreamt of something that I’ve never had in the past. The sight was erratic and terribly frightful. then I heard a voice that seemed to be out of this world and seemed to unlock something upon the moment of hearing. Then he told me that he has called believers from the tribe of Judah to be the forerunner of his word who will come against the schemes of darkness and that he called me to a…
BUS DRIVER : We are now at Bront Ville.
(Josh saw a man wearing a Professorial suit thoroughly staring at him. In that, it caused him to want to know that man thus leaving him stagnant on the way)
ZEK : Josh, we are now at only 10 minutes more before we get late to our first class. So, let’s get hurry.
TEACHER : Good Morning Class, today is the clubbing day. you will choose to either of the clubs presented for you to be a member of as a need requirement for your final exam. You will only have to choose one club and that you should be an active member of it. Reminders, no class for the whole day, but you will have to attend to the respective meetings on your club. So what are you waiting for? Go now to the bulletin board and sign up for your desired clubs.”
ZEK : Josh, what club do you plan to join to?
JOSH : Just, whatever you want.
ZEK : Cool. Then this would be an exciting one. Now, let’s go to the bulletin board outside and sign for ourselves.
JOSH : Zek, what about now, you will be on the same club with Debbie. I think this will be a good sight seeing the both of you in the same club. Isn’t it?
ZEK : Well, yeah, I’m looking forward to that.
DEBBIE : Oh, Josh you’re here, so we will be on the same club?
JOSH : Yeah…
ZEK : I as well Debbie, isn’t a good idea?
DEBBIE : Yeah, it is…
ZEK : Wow, that was a heartwarming welcome from you Debbie, thank you so much.
DEBBIE : Whatever, Zek…
DAVID : Anyway is it only going to be us joining this club?
ZEK : What do you think? It’s now already 1:30 pm and there’s no more other students coming in…
Oh, Josh, I just remembered, what was it that you said this morning? Was it about your dream?
ZEK : Debbie, are you okay? Josh, David?
DAVID : We’re all okay. How about you?
ZEK : I’m okay too.
DEBBIE : The earthquake was really strong and I’m afraid of its total destruction but surprisingly we are not terribly injured as expected…
ARCHIE : I am Archie sent by the Almighty. Time has already decreed that this must happen. The four of you are chosen from the tribe of Judah to become the forerunners. You will be the light to the lost and hope to the hopeless. You will come against the schemes of darkness as prophesied in the past and shall know your identity of what you are capable of. Josh, the Almighty has spoken to you in a dream of what must happen. He gave you the unbelievable power of strength that in time you will use against the enemy. Debbie, the power of healing is in your hands. David the power to control things through your sight is what of you and Zek the speed of lightning is what I give you. The time is coming when all this things shall happen. Outbreak of wickedness shall possess the land and the struggle of two forces is at hand.
Don’t be surprised to this sight Josh, Debbie, David, and Zek. You are all called for this. This is your mission. The Almighty will be with you up until the end if times who is faithful, gracious and loving forever.
Scene 2
(Not long afterward, there was a massive explosion of riots, kidnappings, murders and even bombings that disturb the entire Bront Ville)
DEBBIE : This one is not good. We have to do something about this.
DAVID : Indeed, before this one gets worse.
JOSH : Yes, I understand but we have to be very careful about it so as to keep anyone from any danger. Moreover, there will be lots will get affected if we do not plan it correctly.
ZEK : Guys, have you noticed the eyes of those people doing those undesirable things? It seems that they are all under a spell.
DAVID : Yeah, I have noticed that as some are seen in the television. All of them seem to be not on their right mind and are just under control to some spiritual ruler.
DEBBIE : What about we follow them or just one of them and find out how did they had that.
JOSH : Okay, tonight we will make a careful investigation of all this and scout them.
ZEK : Where are they? I thought this is their assembly area.
EVIL ONE : Yes indeed. You’re all caught in a trap and there’s no way for the four of you to get out from here. Goodbye the Forerunners…
JOSH : That’s what you thought, the Lord Almighty is with us and he is just certainly too much for you.
EVIL ONE : Well then let’s see. Army, attack and destroy them…
DEBBIE : Zek, create a whirlwind using you speed and carry them away.
ZEK : David, lift the heavy loads nearby and dump it over to them.
DAVID : Debbie, heal the wounded…
EVIL ONE : You think you can defeat us just as these?
JOSH : In the name of the Living God, I command you to go back from where you are and I rebuke your power over entire Bront Ville…
