Listening And Hearing...Is Listening a skill???

Are you a listener. Did you really have a good listening skills. Most people are involved in a discussion which after sometimes they couldn't remember what has really been discussed. This mean they don't listen but they might have heared what had been said.
Here i will let you know why listening is far beyond the limit of hearing.

Listening is that ability go hear, absorb and understand what is really being said.
It differs from hearing because you have to absorb and understand.
Here I will want you yo know some of the reasons for poor listening.
1-Individual(distraction within listener).
2-Reaction towards speaker.
3-Reaction towards subject.
4-Halo effect-This is a state of being carried away by the familiarity of the speaker.
In this case, one doesn't care about mistakes made by the speaker.
5-Lack of interest and focus.

Lastly I will like to share some keys to effective
Listening.
... Listen for ideas.
... Resist distractions.
... Find areas of interest.
... Keep your mind open.
... Try to emphazise.
... Remember to use an attentive listening attitude.

I think by now you should be able to know maybe you are a true listener.
If not, try to be by following the keys to effective listening.
