Why graphics in Linux lag in gaming.

in #linux5 years ago

So let me sum up graphics on linux.

AMD provides the firmware binary for developers, and some support, not enough to get it up to par with the windows driver, however. they also provide a driver, but using the open source one is easier, and not enough benefit (for me) to use their driver or the one that updates properly and easily with my system.

nVidia provides a decent driver but is now locking down its firmware with security.. after promising to help more with the open source driver.. it is doing the opposite.

intel provides great support, but no dedicated graphics hardware that can compete with window nVidia or AMD.

interesting to note, the intel and amd video drivers do not play nice with each other and refuse to run on the same system. i don't know why, but that might be worth exploring ... so many ideas to chase ; )

I found this facinating... here is a company, that bit coin is paying millions to in the form of bitcoin miners... an entire market ready to buy their cards and NOT pay microsoft... oh wait I think i found why nVidia is making it HARDER for linux to work with their video cards.

then there was that time intel paid off suppliers to not buy AMD processors (even tho faster and better)

so the # of times we have lost as consumers thanx to suppliers cut throat tactics...

we don't get the best, we get what makes it... which is rarely the best.
