We visited LIMA, PERU & this is what happened...

in #lima5 years ago

It was an eventful weekend for us as we traveled from Mexico City to Lima, Peru. It was a worthy trip and the type we would gladly do again if we had the chance. Lima gave us unbelievable experience and that is not to say we liked everything that happened there, but then, the good stuff sure has their place in our hearts. We enjoyed our time there.

The first experience we enjoyed before getting to Lima was getting an upgrade (we bid slightly higher than the minimum rate) to a First Class treatment on the plane and this was actually our first time ever flying first class!

We were treated to a luxurious lounge, Gourmet food and snacks, unlimited drinks, wine and spirits as we (surprisingly) enjoyed a 6-hour layover. What an experience! This actually set the tune for us to enjoy and explore more of Lima, in Peru. Truth be told, it was one of the best experience we have had while flying.

We took a 45-minute Uber to Miraflores in Lima, Peru and we were charged only $11. The thing we enjoyed about this city is that Uber is relatively cheap here. We enjoyed a great view of a café called “Buenavista café” and it was beautiful.

We also noticed here that their food is called by a different name; different from the Spanish names you thought they were and the currency they spend here is not Peso but Sol (plural is called Soles). Having this prior knowledge would help you when coming to Lima, in Peru.

We made this Lima vlog to help everyone in choosing their travel destination and keep everyone informed as to what to expect in Miraflores or Barranco in Lima, Peru.

In the spirit of exploring the huge Lima, we got a tour guide that would make it easier for us to navigate the fun spots and the landmarks in Miraflores and Barranco. From Barranco, we could see the Island called San Lorenzo. What a view! It was a lovely view that you have to soak all in and appreciate from within and also without. The view, the colour, the trees, and the ambience would always leave you in awe of the beauty. We also saw the Lighthouse along the boardwalk, and interestingly, it was designed by the same man that designed the Eiffel Tower in Paris.

Our exploration didn’t stop there as we also saw the bridge that linked Miraflores with Barranco and it is called the “Friendship bridge”. We can’t get enough of the wonders and beauty of Lima. Truth be told, Peru is actually colourful. You see amazing colours everywhere, in arts, in designs and also in buildings.

We also saw another bridge called “Puente de Los Suspiros” which means “Bridge of Sighs”. All you need to do is make a wish, hold your breath while you try to walk across it. It was amazing and yes; don’t ask us what we wished hahaha.

We had a lot of food too. While we enjoyed so many, we still had some that we didn’t enjoy as well. For instance, we didn’t really enjoy the fish fillet and also the cow’s heart that we had. On the later, we are a little bit indifferent about it but then I don’t think we would be trying it again anytime soon. We also had this amazing Japanese sushi called “Makoto”. It was amazing and great to see in its different layers. Oh! There is the drink called Pisco sour which is made from grapes in this region (Lima) and it is very traditional too and it is distilled liquor.

There is another trip to Parque del Amor which is right in front of a statue called “El Beso” meaning "The Kiss." It is the image of two people kissing and this would be a perfect destination for lovers. We put this Lima vlog for you to do and we hope this solves the question of what to do in Lima.

A lot of people should desire to visit Lima. This is a perfect visiting place for everyone because you will be exposed to various culture and food. Food in Lima is actually amazing. You should try the Peruvian dishes and you would always want more of them.

We tried amazing ceviche in Barranco, Lima in a restaurant called “La 73”. It is made of fish and popcorn kernels – maybe toasted corn, along with citrus juices. I've never been a big fan of ceviche but this stuff was amazing!!

There is another amazing place called “Muya” where we had a Peruvian dish and pisco sour drink. We visited so many places in this travel and you can be sure there are still many more to cover. This is just a taste of how amazing Lima is and you can find out about that in our travel vlog.

There is another interesting place that we found which is “Kennedy Park” and it is in the middle of Miraflores where friendly stray cats are found all over the place. We found out that traffic is not friendly here in Lima and this is one of the few things we don’t really like there. Honking has become the second language haha.

The drivers won’t stop for you and you have to make sure you maintain eye contact for you to have the go-ahead to cross. If you are like us that would not want to experience heavy traffic like this, then it would be perfect for you to order an Uber. They are quite affordable here and save you the stress.

We enjoyed the amazing artworks on display here in Lima and for art lovers too, you can be sure you will enjoy a spectacular view. You can also visit the “Inka Market” which we also visited where you can enjoy amazing Peruvian crafts, soft fabrics, and clothing. We took a look inside the Luxurious shopping mall called “Larcomar” which is one of the three most popular destinations in Peru. The first one being “Machu Picchu” while the second being the incredible “Mountain of 7 colors”.

This place; Lima (specifically the neighborhoods of Miraflores and Barranco) is a perfect destination for people who want to explore and see how another culture is, so as to appreciate it. The architectural buildings in Plaza San Martin would also leave you in awe. You see a lot of people walking around and admiring the place.
