HOW ARE YOU PREPARING FOR CHRISTMAS?
Throughout the world today, preparations for Christmas have hit top gear with every Christian putting one or two things together. This period is characterized by show of love to humans, gratitude to God, and above all, a period of reflection.
In Nigeria, this period is known for a rise in the price of Chickens because of the increase in demand. Chicken sellers love this period because they make more profit than other months. It is a tradition to see every family eat chicken on the day of Christmas and in extension, the new year.
Also, this period is an opportunity to meet your loved ones and friends you haven't seen in the past 11 months or more. In Nigeria, people in the town move to their various villages to visit their grandparents, cousins, uncles, aunties, and extended family. This is a period everyone looks forward to because it happens only once in a year or once in two years or more.
Christmas marks the commemoration of the birth of Jesus Christ, but in recent years, it has picked up other festivities to spice it up. Many occasions are fixed during this period because it is a period of the holiday for some people in the working class.
While we party and enjoy this period, it is pertinent that we do not forget the reason for the season. Jesus Christ is the reason why we even mention the word Christmas.
