It could have happened to anyone...
Usually, between the 15th and the 20th each month, is the date when 90% of the bills I have to pay land on the mailbox. Even the ones that have to be paid every two months such as the electricity bill, still, it arrives on one of these dates...
As if all service providers along with state services have some sort of secret deal and mail those bills together in order to drive me crazy. I mean literally ALL except from the rent that is being paid on the 1st of each month.
The bill for the mobile phone, for the water, for electricity, for the internet, for the cable TV, the health insurance....you name it. One would say that it's a good thing..."Pay them all within 5 days and sleep well for the rest of the month" which is true, yet hard to be done...
But somehow every single month I manage to pay them all on time. I hate the idea of being in debt... and I always do everything in my hand to avoid situations like that...So here's what happened to me today...it could have happened to anyone...
As I was driving home after I had finished from my day job, I stopped at the bakery to buy some stuff. Bread, milk, some cookies that I love...bakery stuff. I parked the car and the moment I opened the door and stepped out of the car I see money...right on the pavement. Some 50s tied up with an elastic band...just like in the movies.
Needless to say that I grabbed it the very same way a panther catches their pray. I stepped back into the car and I was like...WTFFFF...Really now? Maybe God sent me a gift because he knows I have bills to pay? Took off the elastic band and started counting...apparently there were fourteen 50s there aka--->700 Euro along with a receipt from a local ATM.
Withdrawal: 700 Euro at 20:10 PM
Balance: 0 Euro
Who uses an elastic band to tie their money nowadays,anyway... my initial thought. But I have a clear picture of my grandpa who used to do the exact same thing when he used to withdraw his pension using the ATM. _Oh shit....some old man / lady must be really sad now...That has to be it.
For some weird reason I wasn't feeling lucky no more...Even though I have to admit that for a moment I thought I could pay the rest of my bills and buy Steem with the rest that was left. Dammit...not to buy a present for my gf...but to buy Steem? How twisted is that?
I should at least try to see if there is anyone that is acting weird or was searching like a maniac...that would be a hint, right? So I stepped out of the car once again pretending nothing happened, walked into the bakery, did some shopping and while I was heading for the car, I saw an old lady crying and her grandson, a little kid maybe 10 years old trying to comfort his crying grandmother.
She wasn't in panic...she was just...so sad. I mean really sad, like something terrible must have happened a while ago. Seeing an old lady crying like a little child gave me the chills... I swear to God...
So I approached them and kindly asked if everything was OK and how I could possibly help.
-You can't my child...it is gone...
-What's gone? Tell me plz...
-Someone must have robbed me, my whole pension...everything I've got. 700 Euros
I had no second thoughts...she was crying like a baby...Old people shouldn't go through shit like this.
-Is this yours grandma?...while taking off my pocket the money with the elastic band...I found it right there, on the pavement. You must have dropped it accidentally...
I won't describe what took place next because it was way too intense, but I wish you could somehow see her face. Her eyes...A big smile was drawn on her face...I think you know what I mean...
Morale: A good deed is more important than one's temporary pleasure...Do I feel proud of myself? Not really, it's what any good person would do if they were me, right?
PS. My gf should never find out that my initial thought was to buy Steem rather than buy her a gift. She would probably chop off my head...and we don't want that, do we?
So how was your day people?
Late at night when the dark times come and you are down, think of that ladies face.
You done a good thing!
What a thought huh? I am sure she is relieved...
Thank you man!

My karma huh? Let’s see...
Thanks for stopping by mate
Some years ago I lost my wallet, 400 euros inside. Later the same day a guy called me to return it. I couldn't thank him enough...before that experience I would probably be an assjole grab the 700s and take off right away before anybody notices. But what that man did changed me forever. I have found two wallets since then, never even thought to take the money...
Dunno how I'll react though if I find a million or something 😂
Someone who lost a million probably is loaded. So no second thoughts. Grab that million and run like a fugitive 😂
You're lucky you still met the old lady. I would always give everything back. I only take the Euro if someone has forgotten it in their shopping cart, it happens very rarely.
😂
You almost made me cry lol!
A couple months ago lost like 50€ in a similar situation and it hurts!
Thanks for sharing this :)
It hurts indeed.

Hi friend @mindtrap, thanks for sharing.
Friend that is a great experience, many in your place would not be worried about finding out what that money was, I imagine this old woman would be happy to recover her assets.
You should also tell you that you took the best decisison, that brings rewards brother, have no doubt.
Note: My day, like that of the majority in Venezuela, having to do feats to feed their family, today I went out with my 9 year old son to buy for lunch and we rang at 2pm, with a piece of chicken and something of rice.
Blessings to you!
@fucho80
