Life Without a Mother
We all have our parents. Without them, we won't exist in this world. It would be happy to spend your life with them. Nevertheless, some people may not be totally happy. There may be some instances when parents tend go be irresponsible, and they don't care about the welfare of their kids.
I am just fortunate to have loving parents. My father may be too strict when we were younger, but I do understand them. If not for the way he disciplined us, we would've ended up like many families today. I admit being closer to my mother. She is loving and caring towards her kids. We are actually a lot in the family, but she tried her best to treat us equally. She always thinks about her family.
Illnesses my mother has gone through
Back in 2007, my mother is unwell. She has been sickly. The back pain has affected her cough. That cough triggered heart disease for her. Knowing about her illness, we have to be careful in dealing with her. We always thought of her welfare.
What's worse, her cough worsened, which led to the collapse of her lungs. Her back pain has worsened too, which was initially diagnosed as osteoporosis, and was changed to osteoarthritis. She was brought to the hospital, and her doctor touched a lump on her neck. It was removed, and FINALLY, the doctor realized about undergoing CT Scan. Yes, there's a possibility she has cancer.
A day after the CT Scan, we found out she has cancer. And worst? It is Stage 4, late stage. She's in terminal state, but what can we do? The lumps removed from her neck was brought to Manila for biopsy. We found a small light at the tunnel when the result says no malignant cells. At least we have reasons to keep hoping.
She was brought to Manila for possible treatments, it might be chemotherapy. My father's friend has cancer too, but his wife is undergoing a treatment different from chemotherapy. It is believed to be safer, which was availed for her.
While in Manila, she is not fine as she prefers going back home. The color of her face changed to worse. There's an expectation her life won't take longer. She was brought home, and days after, her state is improving.
The treatment was currently done in the house, and there we can see a light at the distant end of the tunnel, thinking she will be disease-free someday. Her skin which was grayish turned to pinkish. She is even responding to her food. However, there are instances when intense pain attacks her. She's actually shouting from pain. We do what we do for her relief, and afterwards, pain was lessened. Just lessened since pain never actually left her. We believed that the pain was a reaction of the body in fighting the cancer cells due to the treatment.
A month of better state, it seems she is about to give up. On her last few weeks, she is catching her breath. Until on her last week, she was brought to the hospital where she suffered mild stroke. At that time, she cannot talk to us properly. Her memory waned, and I think she had dementia. She calls other people with different names. After one week in ICU, she gave up her life, leaving us in deep pain.
What life was like?
Life has never been easy wothout her. Imagine the years I have spent with her. Those great memories are just memories, and that I cannot see her anymore for the rest of my life in this present system. I couldn't say anything more how difficult because some situations are indescribable with level of difficulty. If I was actually given a chance to have someone back in my life, it is my mother.
Eso es el amor mas grande que podemos sentir hacia alguien.
A pesar que no están con nosotros físicamente pero si espiritualmente,
después de todo somos "Almas"
