Trauma of Child Marriage in Nigeria

Child marriage as being define as a union between man and woman below the constitutional acceptable age.

child marriage is a menace playing the entire world though African as the highest incidence of child marriage.

UNICEF (United Nations international children education fund) said about 70,percent among Nigeria women between the age of 20 to 30 reported marrying before the age of 18 years.

However,child marriage is fading out with time in most region in Nigeria except the northern part of Nigeria where the people still practise this just for their so called traditions and custom which is doing more harm to the children then good.

Reason for child marriage in Nigeria include, religion, social pressure, fear of remaining unmarried, illiteracy ,pride price culture e. t. c.
child marriage deprive these children for their childhood. My friend who recently visit a northern part of Nigeria says this is still vastly practise how I love to post some pictures of these but for some reason I wouldn't.
This marriage leave the girls with Trauma they bear though out their whole life.

parent who engage their children in child marriage often feel that it's provide their daughter with sense of protection from sexual promiscuity and safe from sexually transmitted infection.
However in reality they marry them off to older men who have a lot of sexual expeditions there by causing these girls with various disease like HIV, Cervical cancer, and most commonly fistula. most of them even die during the process of given birth Cos most are from age 15to 19.

The girl my friend met at the hospital she visited for her Christian mission evangelism said she got married the age 13 to a man even older than her father and she is the forth wife of the man .
she have been pregnant twice but she usually lost her baby at the process of laboring. she expressed the way all our ambition and vision was terminated due to the marriage. she also explained how her friend died of fistula due too insufficient funds to perform the surgical operations but Come to think of it is it the fund or the marriage.

Domestic violence existas a result of large age gap between this children and their spouses.
