10 things I love about being a mama
Ok, so I love errrm...EVERYTHING, but here are some particular bits that stand out, for me. In no particular order...
- Having a teeny mini-me as a home-grown bff, he comes everywhere with me and he's my number one favourite hang.
- Watching him grow. Although it's a bit of a shame when he grows out of some outfits that I love putting him in, and sometimes my hormones say "noooo, where's my tiny newborn?!" it's also a really lovely thing to see him grow and thrive.
- Being his comfort and safety. I love that I can make him feel better, happier, calmer and safer.
- Hearing his cute giggly laugh. It's THE BEST sound in the world.
- Seeing him develop. I find it so amazing and interesting to see him develop and learn new things, and how quickly things can change. Overnight he's able to pull new facial expressions, able to say new words, and reaches physical milestones like crawling or pulling himself up to stand.
- Similar to baby giggles...his cheeky little smile. It absolutely melts my heart every time.
- Dressing him in funny outfits or matching my outfits with his. Yup. I'll be doing this until he's old enough to protest. Then when he's a teenager I'll show him photographic evidence of us wearing matching dungarees or him in fancy dress etc. I just wish there were more matching mum and baby outfits out there!
- Seeing the happiness and joy he brings to the rest of our family. They adore him. They actually can't get enough of him and it's so sweet to see.
- His smell. Babies. Smell. Delicious.
- Watching him sleep. People say "sleep when they sleep" but I've always found it really hard not to just watch him peacefully snoozing away. Or take pictures of him while he's sleeping and admire his beauty! Or look at old pictures on my phone!
