The sense of Belongingness - Necessity and how to grow?
A sense of belongingness is one of the basic human needs. It's like food or shelter. No, I'm not overstating it. You can notice how we behave when we don't feel any belonging to certain things. It can be a relationship, our family, culture or even with material things. As long as we don't feel the belongingness, we will never feel responsible and care for it. And, that's the reason today I'm gonna talk about this.
As a human, we have to work with a group, in a large company, have to deal with a lot more people, take care of a large family or a huge amount to expensive items. And the feeling of this attachment, the feeling oo being part of society makes us feel comfortable and emotionally safe. Also, it creates a sense of happiness. There are people who care about us is the biggest feeling. So, how we can develop belongingness? And if we have it already then how can we improve it?
For me, I think the first rule is 'Follow'. Follow the rule of society, group or company. Follow the clothing rules, the culture and whatever they do. It's not we can't protest or say if that is wrong. But that's another topic.
Respect. This is what you get, what you give. And, if we can't show our respect to the society or group they will never make us feel we are part of them.
Communicate with others. Make friends and share.
Create the bound. Make you feel bound with the group or society or whatever it is. Bounding can give us a feeling to care and be responsible.
Be committed. Not just in a relationship but also towards anything and even to thyself. Be responsible for your work and step ahead.
I think it's a practice we can adapt gradually. And if we could take care of those points above, it's possible to feel the belongingness. As I have said earlier, we have to work on a personal level to improve this sense and have to practice to improve the feeling.
I hope it helps a little bit!
