Our Beautiful Daughter - None of us are promised tomorrow are we?

in #life7 years ago

Hello. My name is Andrew. New here at Steemit. Nice to meet you.

Hope to be a part of the Steemit community and help others along the way with some fun and laughter, Yorkshire Humor and advice wherever I can. Here's my story over the last 9 months. It's been a little emotional, happy and definitely hectic.

We have this beautiful daughter. She's 9 months old and we call her Faith Grace. She's a stunner :-) The only girl to be born in my family in 70 years.

Over the last 9 months she has been quite ill. Faith has a heart condition called Obstructive Hyprotropic Cardiomyopathy. It's an incurable condition for now and we have learned to accept this.

About 4 months ago she caught a virus and went really down hill. She spent 10 days on life support. It was a very scary time. With the grace of God and with the help of the doctors and nurses she pulled through.

She is doing just fine for now and has surpassed all our expectations and we really do love and enjoy her. If she is going to survive Faith will probably need a heart transplant. We are going to Great Ormond Street Hospital soon in London to see if they can help her.

We have had lots of support from our church, our family and friends in this difficult time. It's quite something to get your head around when you probably don't know how much time you have left with your daughter.

We also have some amazing support from a children's hospice. Most people think of hospices as very sad places and where people go do die. Yes, people do die in them eventually even babies. But hospices are far from sad places. They give friendship, support, love and comfort.

They make people laugh, smile and appreciate life too for what it really is. None of us are promised tomorrow are we?

Bluebellwood Children's Hospice costs over 4 million GBP a year to run.

If you can upvote this it would make so much of a difference to peoples lives that are supporting and caring for a child with a life limiting condition.

Any proceeds raised will go to Bluebellwood Childrens Hospice. http://www.bluebellwood.org/
