| You find yourself in the present. A state which is determined by your past. From here you want to take steps into the future. To do that, we are usually using a very mighty tool: our imagination. At the same time this tool depends on another very useful tool humanity created to collaborate: the system. To find out which system fits your process best, is the first step of being creative and focused at the same time. | Du befindest dich in der Gegenwart. Ein Zustand der durch deine Vergangenheit bestimmt wird. Von hier aus möchtest du Schritte in die Zukunft unternehmen. Um das tun zu können, bedienen wir uns für gewöhnlich einem sehr mächtigen Werkzeug: Unserer Vorstellungskraft. Gleichzeitig ist diese abhängig von einem anderen nützlichen Werkzeug, das die Menschheit entwickelt hat, um miteinander arbeiten zu können: Dem System. Herauszufinden welches System das für den uns bevorstehenden Prozess das beste ist, ist der erste Schritt, um kreativ und gleichzeitig fokussiert zu arbeiten. |
| This article refers to some sort of blueprint for project orientated collaboration i've developed for myself. As it turned out it is a very practical tool to team up with others and get track of what has to be done stepwise. This is the first episode of a series of articles. Therefore it's not very detailed. Follow me, so you'll don't miss the next one. | Dieser Beitrag bezieht sich auf eine Art Blaupause für Projekt orientierte Zusammenarbeit, die ich ursprünglich für mich selbst entwickelt habe. | I guess everybody knows that feeling. You are in a state of mind, where everything seems to be possible. It’s all so simple. It doesn’t matter, if your idea is concerning a business model, a piece of art or a new way to organize human interactions. Your mind is a mighty tool and has enough imagination to create a whole universe. It’s easy to get your creativity going, but it’s not that easy to channel it. | Ich gehe mal davon aus, dass jeder das Gefühl kennt: Man ist in einem geistigen Zustand, in dem alles möglich erscheint. Es ist alles so einfach. Es spielt keine Rolle, ob sich deine Idee auf ein Geschäftsmodell, Kunst oder einen neuen Weg des menschlichen Zusammenlebens bezieht. Dein Verstand ist ein mächtiges Werkzeug und besitzt genug Vorstellungskraft, um ganze Universen zu erschaffen. Es ist leicht kreativ zu sein, aber nicht so leicht, diese Kreativität zu kanalisieren. |
| We often get too excited about the possibilities we are able to project into the future. Sometimes we get lost in the details of our ideas and frustrated, when things don’t turn out to be, as we imagined them in the first place. | Wir werden schnell vereinnahmt von all den Möglichkeiten, die uns erlauben, unser Selbst in die Zukunft zu projizieren. | A simple concept of your idea is one of the core elements to transfer your insides into the world. On the one hand it helps you understanding, what your idea actually means, and on the other hand it is the first step to presenting it to others. Ultimately, there is nothing, that we can achieve all by ourselves. | Ein einfaches Konzept der Idee zu erstellen ist das Kernelemente, um das, was in dir steckt, erfolgreich in die Welt zu tragen. Zum einen um für dich selbst zu verstehen, was die Idee überhaupt bedeutet, zum anderen, um anderen die Idee zu präsentieren. Letztlich gibt es nichts, dass wir ganz und gar alleine schaffen können. |
| To process a new idea, i've build myself some kind of template, which asks three simple questions: What is the vision behind my idea? What can I adapt from others? And what's innovativ? At the same i constantly remind myself, that mistakes are okay. No idea is without mistakes. Actually that's a superpower of collaboration between humans. To correct is part of the process and reminds you to team up with experts. | Um eine neue Idee zu verarbeiten, habe ich mir eine Vorlage erstellt mit der ich mir drei einfache Fragen stelle: Was ist meine Vision hinter der Idee? Was kann ich von anderen adaptieren? Und was an meiner Idee ist innovativ? Gleichzeitig versuche ich mir immer wieder vor Augen zu führen, dass Fehler okay sind. Keine Idee wird jemals fehlerfrei sein. Im Grunde ist das eine Stärke des menschlichen Zusammenarbeitens. Korrigieren gehört zum Prozess und kann nur unter zur Hilfenahme von Experten passieren. |
| This template may take a variety of forms. Mostly i write something down. But it is just as conceivable, to setup a moodboard for example. Which method seems best for your way of working, depends on the process, your interests and your skills. As long as it helps, to present your idea, it is valid. | Diese Vorlage kann die unterschiedlichsten Formen annehmen. Meistens halte ich Dinge schriftlich fest. Es ist aber genauso denkbar, ein Moodboard (also eine Bilderkollage) zu erstellen. Welche Methode deiner Arbeitsweise entspricht, ist vom Prozess, deinen Interessen und von deinen Fähigkeiten abhängig. Solange es dir hilft, deine Idee zu präsentieren, ist alles gut. |

| In the next step, it is necessary to look at the sketched idea under a very decisive point of view: feasibility. How realistic is your concept? Which competences are needed? Do you have the skills or do you need another person for the process? If yes, which one? What costs can arise? How much capacities are needed to succeed? | Im nächsten Schritt ist es nötig sich die skizzierte Idee unter einem ganz entscheidenen Gesichtpunkt zu betrachten: Der Machbarkeit. Wie realisitisch ist dein Konzept? Welche Kompetenzen sind nötig? Besitzt du die Kompetenzen oder brauchst du andere Menschen für die Umsetzung? Wenn ja welche? Was für Kosten können entstehen? Wieviel Kapazität muss aufgebracht werden? |
| In order to answer these questions, it is essential to interact with other people, to present the idea, to discuss and to seek suggestions for improvement. For the 'proof of concept' there are fascinating methods. More on that on the next episode. | Um diese Fragen zu beantworten, ist es unabdingbar mit anderen Menschen zu interagieren, die Idee vorzustellen, zu diskutieren und sich Verbesserungsvorschläge einzuholen bzw. zu entwickeln. | For me personally this is one of the most important points. Especially, if you are interested in many things at once and be easily involved, it can happen, that you quickly overwhelm yourself. The more disciplined this process happens, the more relaxed the actual process will be. | Für mich ganz persönlich ist das einer der wichtigsten Punkte. Besonders, wenn du an vielen Dingen interessiert bist und dich leicht involvieren lässt, kann es passieren, dass du dich schnell selber überforderst. Umso disziplinierter dieser Vorgang passiert, desto entspannter wird die Umsetzung sein. |
| I like to imagine a venture or a project as a trip to the jungle. It is important to draw a map, to know who should accompany this journey and what tools are needed along the way. | Ich stelle mir eine Unternehmung oder ein Projekt gerne als Reise in den Jungle vor. Es ist wichtig eine Karte zu zeichnen, zu wissen wer diese Reise begleiten sollte und welche Werkzeuge auf dem Weg gebraucht werden. |
| This theoretical map actually never runs linear. Means, it can happen, that an unexpected hurdle appears. Suddenly a skill or a tool is needed that you didn't think of before. That's why it's necessary to include phases to review, a reality check, if you like: are we still going in the right direction? Do we need more actors to continue the journey? etc. | Diese theoretische Karte verläuft eigentlich niemals linear. Soll heißen, es kann natürlich dazu kommen, das ein unerwartetes Hindernis auftaucht, plötzlich eine Fähigkeit oder ein Werkzeug gebraucht wird, an die bzw. an das man vorher nicht gedacht hat. Deswegen ist es notwendig Revisionsphasen einzubauen, ein Realitätscheck, wenn man so will: Gehen wir eigentlich noch in die richtige Richtung?
