During December of 2017, I got a mail offering me an internship from Infosys Limited in their Mysore Development center. Not knowing what to expect and also not wanting to attend my boring lectures back in my college I decided to go there crossing my fingers.

What happened next could not have happened in my wildest dreams. It was four months of fun, learning, experiences, adventures. I couldn’t have asked for more and it took me a while to get back to routine after this four-month long vacation break.

It started out with me and my friend reaching Mysore, Karnataka on January 8th, 2018.

We had come to the world’s largest training facility built for and to train software engineers. This Facility had everything that met the world standards. Be it their Recreational centers, gyms, Swimming pools, Multiplexes (yeah there was one inside!), Grounds. Not to forget their huge training center that could accommodate 10,000 people at a given time. 10,000 systems that could be used to train people simultaneously.

The accommodation provided to us inside the campus was top notch. There was a total of 102 hostels with each holding a capacity of anywhere between 50 – 300 rooms. This all was spread around the campus area.

The whole campus was heavily guarded by CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) all around the clock with patrol vehicles and bikes. The normal security inside the campus was also great and was present at all times. That meant we could roam around the campus at any time we wanted and not care about our safety.

Our official work timing was 9:00 to 5:00 which was pretty chilled out for the most part. There wasn’t any stress from our mentors as they were our seniors. This comes from the work culture that’s followed there. We were provided with a system for our own and obviously air-conditioned spaces.

After 5:00 it was all fun and no work. We had the whole campus to ourselves that included the grounds, gyms, courts, pools, open-air theatres and of course the food courts! That was probably the most enjoyable part of this whole journey.
It definitely was an opportunity to learn more as we met a lot of people from all walks of life and from every part of the country, reiterating the fact that India is indeed a diverse nation.

Those countless strolls in midnight around the campus. The 20km average walks every day. The birthday parties away from home. The late night talks in the smoking zone with fellow friends. These would remain etched in my memories forever.

All together these four months were the best work/holiday period ever. Now on to Adulting. It’s probably high time I adult up and search for a real job.

Will I get a cool job that feels like a vacation? Time will only tell.

Cheers. Have an amazing day! See you soon.
