Millennials Are Not Into DIY Projects, They Prefer Do It For Me

in #life7 years ago

The Millennials are starting to grow up and some are even leaving the nest. What many are quickly realizing is that their childhoods dominated by smart phones and iPads have left them little in the way of DIY skills.

Some retailers like Home Depot have picked up on this shortcoming and have launched a series of how-to videos on the use of their products from measuring tapes to circular saws. That is correct, a one minute video on how to use a measuring tape.

Home Depot's VP of marketing admits she was originally hesitant because she thought some of their videos might be a bit too "condescending" but she quickly learned they were very necessary for our pampered millennials.

I know that this lack of handiness doesn't apply to everyone in the Millennial generation, but when the big box stores see the needs of the customer change, they have to address those needs.

We are going to need some self-hammering nails and a how-to on lightbulb instillation if this trend continues.
