NIGERIA came to be right from 1914 following the amagamation of that year, as a result of British colonialism which had two major adverse effects:

•Exploitation and

•Disintegration

Nigeria geographically covers four different regions which show variations in Landscape, Livestock, Crops, Occupation and general economic activities among the people of the different regions.

British colonialists saw this as a prospective gold mine for exploitation and for the benefit of their homeland Britain.

Using the Niger Delta crisis as a case study:
The colonial masters in exchange for the control of their natural resources gave small gifts to earn the trust of the traditional rulers (The State).

Achieving this, they were able to access these resources using it for their own economic benefit without consideration of harmful effects of land pollution and unemployment which is detrimental and also ravaging the inhabitants of the area till today.

DISINTEGRATION

The inhabitants were, however separate and independent on its own and had its political and sociocultural and economic systems.

The British colonialists brought these different ethnic groups into one geographical entity as NIGERIA.

However, the British colonialists did not make any authentic move to unite the different ethnic groups instead they set up disintegrative administrative policies of Divide and Rule; a policy that tainted the the inter-ethnic relations.

As a result of this, the different ethnic groups saw themselves as hostile and enemy. This raised strife among the different ethnic groups which blinded them from seeing the colonial masters as the actual enemy.

THE INTER GENDER CONFLICT

This came to existence as females were denied certain privileges and right such as;

•The right to education, instead they were groomed for marriage.

•The right to own a land

•Restricted from occupying high political positions and voting in the north during an election in historic times.

•Marriage, other than being seen as the union between a man and a woman, was rather seen as an acquisition to the man as a property.

CONFLICT BETWEEN ARMED CRIMINALS AND THE REST OF THE SOCIETY

Hoodlums, louts and other armed criminals operate at the damage of the members of the society who had no means of protection.

Knowing to the fact that the armed forces do not have sufficient and updated weapons as compared to that of the criminals.

RELIGIOUS CONFLICT

Religious fanatics in different states of the northern part murder people who have no interest and believe in their religion.

One important feature of the above conflict is that they do not have any territorial boundaries.

Tracing back, the major cause of the entire conflict ravaging the entire society is traceable to the Nigerian State which is presently a failed State.

The conflict ravaging the Nigerian State is as a product of failed Leadership, Insensitivity and in its defense of the selfish interest of those who control the means of production.

As it has created policies that have led to the creation of mass unemployment and underdevelopment leading to instability of the society in a bid to protect their own personal interest.

NIGERIA does not need disintegration but rather restructuring with adequate maintenance of it's natural resources.
