Your Life is our Choice

One of my favourite lines, “Life is from B to D(Birth to Death), but in-between B and D is C. C is the choices you make.”
There were two kids who lived in a neighbourhood. The kids had similar fathers. Both the fathers were alcoholics. Every night they both got drunk and tormented their wives. It was a dreadful sight for the kids in the house seeing their moms get beaten up and tortured every day.

Eventually, the kids got older and proceeded to find good careers. One of those two kids just went on to become like his father; an alcoholic. This kid did whatever his father did. He comes home drunk every day and beats up his wife. however, the other kid didn’t end up like his dad. He became quite opposite to his dad. He never consumed any alcohol or did any harsh things like his father. He was benevolent and caring towards his family.

When one of those kids were asked, “why do you consume liquor and torment your wife?”, he said, “My father was an alcoholic and that’s why I’m influenced by him to drink each day.” When the other was asked, “why don’t you get drunk like the other kid or your dad?”, he said, “My father was an alcoholic and that’s why I’m influenced by him to NOT to drink liquor. I chose not to become him or be him. He showed me what alcohol can do, how it breaks the family, I clearly didn’t want that. That is the reason I don’t consume alcohol.”

Those kids had similar fathers, an alcoholic. But one chose to get drunk and other not to. Please remember, every event can have an influence on you. It is what you learn from that event which makes you who you are and what you become. It is your choice to live a happy life or to ruin it.
