THE HISTORY:
Cross river state is one of the states found in the southern Nigeria(1 of 36).It creates a border with cameroon to the east.its capital called calabar(canaan land).
The name cross river was derived from oyono.oyono a river that passes through the state.made up of diverse languages but the major ones been Boki,Ejagham and Efik.
It was the first federal capital territory of Nigeria and the first state to accept christianity when missionaries like mary slessor came and stopped the killing of twins.
Its slogan is THE NATIONS PARADISE so called because of its natural beauty and endowment.it is know to be one of the biggest tourist centre in nigeria ranging from:

This is a mountain resort with beautiful views and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Nigeria.

CALABAR CARNIVAL
This is a yearly activity done every december aimed at bringing more than 20 countries together in the state.This event is the biggest street carnival event in the whole of africa.Happening in crossriver state.

EKPE MASQURADE:
EKPE which means lion is like the king of all masquerades.moves with pride and confidence do not think about obstacles.Its been invited for big occassions,small occassions and mostly competition.Its beauty and movement is so stylish that cause you to want to be a part of it.There are other mascurades but i will be talking only about this one because its the king of all others.
THE EKOMBI DANCE:
This dance carries full creativity.The most facinating thing is the costume been worn to dance this kind of dancd it is creatively made and mostly performed by the women folks.
THEIR DRESS CODE:
This is another unique feature in cross river the made dresses as a chief as a ruler while the woman dresses with diverse colour to showcase the pride carrying nature of the state.
OUR FOOD:
No doubt people will always disagree to this one but i can tell you every calabar meal is prepared with so much money.this reason gives their food that distinguishing feature.its rich and sometime hectic to prepare.some of this foods which are:
