Hang in there, don't give up on Steemit

in #life6 years ago

The last few days I see more and more posts appearing about 'not been seen', 'no exposure' , 'Ghost followers', and I can agree in some things being written, but then I directly ask the question ** "What is your motivation beeing on Steemit"** . That's key for me "What is your motivation".

I do have written a lot about my motivation beeing on Steemit and the funny thing is that I also notice it is hard to get the right public for your content, and you know what ? It is even getting harder in the near future :) , that's because Steemit is still growing rappidly and more and more people are joining. Which is fantastic of course but it makes the amount of posts people must handle thousands times more.

But my motivation is becomming bigger and bigger everyday, I getting more and more enthousiastic every single day.... There is a danger to that too, I am almost 24/7 on steemit, writing posts, reading others, participating in discussions. So I have to be aware it isn't becomming an addiction :).

The whole Facebook discussion should be an eye-opener for many people though, I am no privacy-geek but the fact that Facebook is making millions over our back's, selling our information should be a sign that things arent right with Mark zuckerberg and friends... I will make that a lot of people do delete their facebook account and switch to Steemit for instance.

I am currious how you all bond with fellow Steemians, I try to read all posts from the people I follow and following me. Though it's hard because of the diversity of tags an posts themselves. But I truely believe that is the only way to get to know the people behind the posts any better and you bond together. Like I said before I am not in here for the money but it is a nice side effect of course. Sometimes it is hard to defend saying that you are not in here for te money. But my defense is simple ;) I had a Facebook account which I used a lot in the past, and there I also posted a lot... So it is quite simpel to say I like posting :) lol....

Of course I can give you all kinds of tips on how to use Steemit and grow and so, but that wouldn't be credible if you look at my own exposure (lol). But I do believe that genuine posts about topics of interest (your own) eventually will be seen, so keep faith in the platform, keep faith in your own quality and knowledge, but most of all keep faith in eachother... We are here to help....

Have a great day together and we talk again soon !!!!

I am one of these posters who have mentioned this in fact yesterday here:

Are we in it for the money? When there's money involved we tend to behave differently.

Many people say, 'I'm not in it for the money', but subconsciously I think we all are to some degree. I wont say Im not in it for the money because it would not be true. But its not big money and it wont feed my family.

I get more of a kick from someone upvoting my post and adding some comment to it other than 'good post'.

I also love the creative element of writing. This is not Facebook, we dont do 300 word articles on there, but we do on here, there is a difference.

To me the recongintion is more important with some follow up debate, and then the money. Thats my order of importance.

Let's be honest indeed, the trigger for most of us is/was/will be 'we are getting paid for our posting. So yes we are all here for the money in one or another way. That's for me not any different, but the philosophy behind it is what intriges me a lot. If you invest time it's no shame to get rewarded isn't it. Although (not that I have much already) I won't take any steem out. I will keep investing in Steempower.
I can adopt your order of importance :) Recognition is great, proves that your contribution counts for something. Commenting is a great way of express recognition, interest etc.
Thanks for your reply !!

My motivation is to engage with people and get my books to reach a new audience with my books. Fortunately I'm not solely focused on the money side of things because it's very disheartening to put so much energy into post after post, yet only make around 20 cents, knowing I could make over 50 times that at work for the same amount of time...

because it's very disheartening to put so much energy into post after post, yet only make around 20 cents

Totally true, I have some post where I spent a lot of time on of which I hoped to reach a lot of people, and then see that it is viewed by 10 persones :)

Sometimes I'm lucky if I get that. There seems to be a lot more robots on Steemit than actual people nowadays...

I will be sure to keep that in mind and keep holding on.
Thanks for sharing

My pleasure, thank you for your reply !!

I joined because I like writing abd reading. It is a kind of addiction for sure and a day and night job. Since I do not have that much time I need to scedule it otherwise I will be in trouble for suren

I know the problem with the scheduling :) Thank you for your reply !!

Huh..Reading your post I only hope you will not end up addicted. :) 24/7 is a lot :) When do you sleep?
Ok, so I guess there is no major difference in sites where we post. One way or another our shared and unshared information is used and could be or is abused. More I think about it - I would call it Life. I take every site as a Stage or Podium. You make a speach (post), some people listen, some partly, some not (visit). Some will clap at the end (likes), some will be excited and tell someone about it (shares). Some will be envy, some angry (flags). Some exposures are for free, for some you get a fee for costs and incouragement. What else did we expect? In the end we are only human.

hahah thanks for the worrie but I won't get addicted though :) 24/7 was a sort of speak ;) You have a point though .. We put our information out there and really don't know where it wil end up... but with the commerical like facebook, you really get nothing in return :)

You are right. True. Well I guess on FB you get at least likes for ego boosting. This can be a huge deal for some people. It is addicting. After a while you embrace the benefits of likes and you share more and more detailed, more personal, more intimate stuff. You may end up naked.
When I look at Steemit, more or less all starts with cents. Human greed for ego boosters (likes - one way or another) can go wild sometimes. Like you said - it's not all about the money. But with money and greed combination we can expect scams, self voting, flagging others, begging for return voting ect. On one hand we love being exposed, on the other we would like to keep our privacy. Hmm.
