Taking Action Now Eliminates Procrastination

in #life5 years ago

Procrastination is a sickness. And by being healthy, fit, happy, and well-prepared, we are more likely to be healthy and fit and happy; we are more likely to be empowered. What one can do to overcome procrastination is by choosing actions that trigger a 'fight or flight' response in themselves, because we are hardwired to defend against a threat.

If you want to make sure that you accomplish everything you set out to accomplish, it makes no sense to give up! But since how can you become more productive when you're sitting around and trying to stay busy, it seems that it would be wise to identify what action you need to take, and then take it. In other words, the goal is to get more done, with less effort.

One of the reasons that procrastination is so difficult to do is that we tend to think in terms of consequences; we picture the bad things that might happen if we don't act quickly. You would think that, because we lack the knowledge of what could happen, all the motivation would go into getting the information and making decisions. But it's often the opposite. Almost without exception, people fail to plan adequately because they are too preoccupied with the risks of trying to get something done.

What's going on here is that if you actually take action, you get better. Since action is also taking a reactive stance, what's really going on is that if you actually get more work done, you're more motivated to do more work and this, in turn, is the act of productive procrastination, but it's not happening through a self-transformation of your thought process. If you get more done through consistent action, you don't get distracted as you procrastinate. Instead, you actually get more work done.

Besides you should know what action is. It is everything from writing an essay, knitting a scarf, sending an email, downloading a new game from the App Store, to buying something in a store. On this particular day, your mind goes into overdrive and is filled with ideas of all kinds. Why would it be any different for you?

All you have to do to overcome procrastination is believe that you will be able to do what you promised to do; even in the face of fear.and you have to take action now without delaying anything How you will see this on your own time as you struggle to make your deadline is simply this: Procrastination happens in every situation. There are no exceptions. No circumstances or situations that give us power over the outcome but taking actions can reduce it.

As you overcome this fear and begin to make a real difference in the lives of others by doing something, or even just by being present and experiencing what life throws at you, you will begin to relax and make a more conscious effort to get the things done.
