We are family

Few knows what the real definition of family is. Yes! Anyone connected to you by blood is your 'family'. The first definition of family according to the Oxford dictionary has something to do with being connected to the person by blood. I won't be going into the common understanding of what family is.
A saying goes thus: 'The neighbor next door is more helpful than a brother far away'. The word 'family' could be overrated at times but i'd like you to know family is not by blood alone.
Looking at it from a personal aspect, I've had a lot of outsiders to thank for some major turnarounds in my life.
Now i won't want to antagonise the fact that helping a family member is like building on a foundation that will last forever.
The blood that connects a family forms a strong bond called Love. Love brings emotions. Emotions links our hearts together.
Having this feeling that you have someone who feels the same way you do brings a sense of knowing you are not alone.
Like losing a family member, the loss is felt by everyone in the family.
At times, our so called family ain't the only ones who knows how we feel but we rather call these people 'friends'.
Another definition of family says 'an association of people who share common beliefs or activities' and a friend according to the oxford dictionary is 'a person you know well and regard with attention and trust'.
No definition of a friend talks about believing in the same thing or sharing beliefs or any other thing together.
If we are to look at some of the people we call friends in our lives, we'd see they are worth more than family to us. These are people who share your grief, your happiness, your loss, your achievements. We all have that one person we tell stuff we can't tell our so called family members.

Cut down on your mindset of believing people connected to you by blood alone is your family.
