My Wish for You.

in #life6 years ago

Well, another year is almost gone, where does the time go? A question I think we ask ourselves every day as the minutes tick by and it appears we have not accomplished as much as we would have liked to.

Part of the problem is age. It does not matter what number we wear, for time waits for no one. There is the same amount of time in a day at any age, but the energy we once had slowly dissipates as the days, the hours, and the minutes go by.

When once we would climb mountains and still have enough breath left at the end of the trek to place a flag at the top, with age we find ourselves clamouring just to reach the crest of a small mole hill, grasping for any branch to help us up just one more step.

Well, maybe it’s not quite that bad!

But we do generally slow down as the years tick by and the goals and plans we make for ourselves need to be scaled back slightly lest we fail to achieve them.

If the years have taught us anything, it is to be wise with our time. Don’t throw it away on needless tasks, enjoy little successes that bring joy, happiness and contentment, worry less, and don’t stress about the housework.

Write your own epitaph

It shall never be written on your grave marker that you kept a spotless house, but it might just say you were a great humanitarian, mother, father, artist.

Leave the dust balls behind and stitch the crazy quilt of a beautiful life made up of sweet memories that will keep you warm and cozy when you are alone on a dark night.

And so, as the sun sets on 2018, wherever the sun may rise for you, my wish for you is to make 2019 a year of memories filled with love and laughter, where the peak at the top of the mountain bears the flag of your beautiful life.

Sort:

My house is far from spotless, how can anyone create things, raise kids, have pets, help others AND have a spotless house? Once I lost the guilt of not being the housekeeper my mother was, I found I had much more energy to pour into things that I found more important. Going on a hike with the kids, writing a series of kids books, helping a rescued animal make it through to a new life. And just flat out tasting the absolute joy of living.

I can't wait to see what exciting adventures 2019 brings. Wishing you all the joy and fun and wonders of the New Year.

You've got it right down to what the meaning of life is!

And a very happy and prosperous New Year to you too :) <3

Be wise with my time. It's the most important lesson I have learned in 2018.

Happy new year!
