I'm sorry, perhaps I didn't understand but from what I gather this is awful. A young man first stops to help you get a ride because your car broke down. He only has a bicycle but still he tries.
It is strange that some rapist decided to rape you even though you were not alone but that is what you wrote.
This 17 year old, on the brink of becoming an adult had to make a decision, either get on his bike and forget about you or stay and take a risk that might cost him his life. He chose to be brave and risk getting hurt himself, but he stayed and saved your life.
How much of a despicable and selfish man your husband must be, and what on earth did you keep this a secret for 20 years for? And how could you live with yourself? not to mention how you stayed with a person who didn't stay and do the right thing and let a 17 year old go to prison! I really hope I misunderstood because this seems crazy.
