Living It NOW

It never ceases to amaze me at how practical God is. Outside of time, He sees the end from the beginning and in all His infinite wisdom, He still drills down to the uncomplicated simplicity we need in our everyday lives.

God wants us to live in the here and now.

For many years, I've lived my Christian life in the SOMEDAY. A utopian idea of a future time when basically I'm a much better version of myself.
Someday being that day when I live in peace, love and joy and I read and pray as habitually as I eat, and basically I have got this whole thing called life down to a T. That wonderful day consists of me walking close with the Lord, loving Him and loving others, having Godly thoughts, doing Godly actions, and basically being the kind of Christian I desire to be - not the one that I am right now.
Certainly not the one who battles with thoughts, fears, doubts, who complains, and basically "fights their good fight" daily against all those aspects of themselves they dislike.

How foolish I was to think of this mystical someday. That somehow I would just arrive at a destination and everything would be perfect.

God tells us to live in the NOW, not the someday.

Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." Matt 6 v34

"Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth" Isaiah 43 v 18

"Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil" Ephesians 5 v 15

"Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring." Prov 27 v 1

Of course, we all want to grow in maturity, we all want to put our old life and old ways behind us, but we can come to set up our idea of our future self as an idol. We are putting our hope and eyes on a future day, and missing the beauty and the necessities of today. Every single day we should be focussed on the Lord.

Whether we've been in this Christian life for 5 days, 5 years or 35 years, it really doesn't matter. There will never be a manifestation of anything near that "Someday" unless we live purposefully in the TODAY. We will waste our lives if we are living for an unknown day in the future.

Every day is a moment by moment walk with God.

Moment by moment, taking our thoughts captive to Him.
Moment by moment seeking His wisdom and direction.
Moment by moment acknowledging Him, so He will direct our paths.
Moment by moment praying and communing with Him.

As much as we mess up daily, as much as we are a long way from our idea of the someday person we desire to be, we will never reach that place until we live in the now with purpose and total and constant reliance upon God.

The beauty is finding God in the now. Live in the now with God every moment.
