Shabbat Shalom! 3-6-2021
A new command? ...Nope.
Whether the rule is golden or it is the second greatest command given by our Heavenly Father, we are to love our neighbor as ourselves. It is not a new idea. It has been a part of our Heavenly Father's plan from the start. The best part is that He tells us how. It is not left to man's interpretation of however they want the word "love" to be defined.
Directly before the foundational summation of the instruction is given through Moses, simple specific examples of how to love others are given for us to follow:
- Don't fully reap the corners of your field or gather the gleanings of of your harvest when farming, but leave them for the poor and the stranger.
- Don't steal.
- Don't deal falsely.
- Don't lie to one another.
- Don't cheat your neighbor or rob.
- Pay people for the work they do on the day they do it.
- Don't curse the deaf.
- Don't put a stumbling block before the blind, but fear the Most High Elohim of creation.
- Don't commit any injustice in judgment.
- Don't be partial to the poor.
- Don't honor the person of the mighty.
- Judge your neighbor in righteousness.
- Don't go about as a talebearer (gossiper).
- Don't take a stand against the life of your neighbor.
- Don't hate your brother in your heart.
- Rebuke your neighbor so as to not bear sin because of him.
- Don't take vengeance.
- Don't bear any grudge against the children of your people.
This is how you love your neighbor as yourself.
More importantly, we can't claim to be doing the first and greatest command of loving our Heavenly Father with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, if we aren't loving our neighbor as ourselves. Of course the prophets and our Messiah and his disciples all confirm this as well. The prophets urged people to obey this. Yeshua (Jesus) lived as an example while teaching the same. John the beloved disciple calls it walking in Truth.
Are you walking in Truth?
If not, repent (turn back), stop choosing sin, and choose the right path.
Our Heavenly Father's Way alone is Truth and brings Life.
Your Life Matters!
Choose Truth. Choose Life.
Enjoy our God-given day of rest!
Shabbat Shalom (Sabbath Peace!)
