Rocket stove update
I figured i would give an update to the current progress to the rocket stove that is heating @leesmoketree, @outrayjs, and my current living situation on the family farm. over the past few weeks we have been toying around with this ammo can we turned into a duel burn chamber rocket stove with a 3" intake, a small grate in the bottom made from wire mesh, and some 1/2 inch black oxide pipe. Not sure how long she will last, but im loving the output of this little thing.
This is the memorizing coal bed we have strived to achieve by hustling all this wood haha.
The stove wasn't containing the heat the way we wanted it to so we wrapped it in some brick and they will hold our heat and helps us raise the temp of the wood before we insert it into the inlet port. This function really helps because we have to keep the fire box hot to maintain the temps we are.
This is a cheap thermometer i picked up to check the meat coming off of my smoker and grill, it did the job nothing fancy. So i'm reaching temps at or above 400F from the coals, we seem to be maintaining a solid 57-67F. With outside temps ranging from 14-31*F, I would have to say the little bit of work it is taking to nurse this stove, as well as cutting, chopping, and splitting the wood, it is well worth it due to it being free for us. I do have to add we have a propane furnace we use to carry us over through the night, but we are trying to conserve the propane as much as possible.
