In dem Fall handelt es sich ja eigentlich nicht um Marketing (owned media), sondern um ausgezeichnet gemacht PR (earned media - sprich: kein Inserat, sondern ungewöhnliche Story, die aufgrund der Nachrichtenfaktoren halt auch von einem Medium aufgegriffen wurde). Hut ab vor den KollegInnen (PR-Consultants meine ich - ich arbeite nicht bei PornHub)!
Sie haben übrigens damit noch mehr geschafft: Dein Artikel macht die Aktion wieder etwas bekannter (hatte das tatsächlich auf derstandard.at noch nicht gelesen - hat also wieder ein paar Leute mehr erreicht :-)).

Fucking hat ja immer wieder mal für einiges an Gelächter in englischsprachigen Ländern gesorgt: Hier zum Beispiel, als eine englische Talkshow in Fucking angerufen hat:
Auch interessant der Unterschied zwischen den beiden Wikipediaeinträgen zu Fucking: der deutsche Wikipediaeintrag ist wesentlich kürzer als der englischsprachige, was auch sehr gut zeigt, wie groß das Interesse in englischsprachigen Ländern für dieses kleine Dorf ist!
Man könnte hier definitiv Kapital daraus schlagen, indem man zB einen Souvenirshop mit Sexspielzeug und Miniaturen der Ortstafel eröffnet oder Lokale "Best Fucking Restaurant" oder so nennt :D
PS: Sehr cool finde ich auch die Route von Kissing nach Wedding, die sich sogar super in chronologischer Reihenfolge abfahren lässt ;)

Irgendwie ganz lustig andererseits, denke ich mir wie kann man einen Ort nur so nennen.
Das habe ich mich auch schon einmal gefragt: Weil der vom Ortsgründer (wenn ich es richtig im Kopf habe ein gewisser Fokko) kommt und sich über die Jahrhunderte halt verändert hat. (Siehe auch Wikipedia dazu.) Hat mit der Englischen Bedeutung nichts zu tun!

Einfach mal optimaler Nutzen von bestehenden Ressourcen... auch wenn die Einwohner aus Fucking dies wohl differenziertes sehen. Dem Marketing-Team muss man hier auf jeden Fall mal ein Lob aussprechen, dass Sie dies dann auch ganz kontrovers in den Mainstream-Medien zur Debatte stellen.
