How to brand your business with The “Million Dollar Brander” — Henry Kaminski

It was a great pleasure having Henry Kaminski on The Success Club Mastermind show.

Henry is an extremely accomplished entrepreneur, branding expert, and founder of Unique Designz, a wildly successful agency that specializes in full­-service graphic design, branding, and marketing for other authority brands. Henry has worked with the likes of Bon Jovi as well as Internet marketing expert Russell Brunson, who has named him the “Million Dollar Brander.” Henry also has his own podcast and is the best selling author of “Refuse to Give Up”

One thing I really like about having Henry on the show is just how relevant his advice is to everyone. In the digital era we live in, your brand is vitally important to your success and is why celebrities like Kylie Jenner are able to sell $400 million in cosmetics and entrepreneurs like Gary Vaynerchuk are always harping on the importance of having a brand. If your a Coach, Consultant, Speaker, or Author, your company and personal brand become even more important.

Henry gives us some great business and life advice you’ll be able to get something out of whether you are just starting out or you already have a successful business.

How Henry got his start

Over 10 years ago, he started out as a graphic designer and since then the business has transformed into a boutique agency that helps authority brands to attract higher quality clients.Henry helps businesses by refining their message and creating a premium branding identity.

Challenges along the way

Henry doesn’t sugar coat success, he tells it how it is.“For those just starting out, your going to lose your ass a couple times”What he means by this is you might fail some at first, and that’s ok, as long as you learn from your failure.Starting a company is a journey, so just buckle up and be prepared. That journey is not always going to be easy, but the reward is worth it and Henry is proof of that.

About 5 years ago, his business was taking a turn for the worst. Design work was being commoditized with sites like Fiverr and he didn’t know as much about digital marketing as he does now, so he was at a disadvantage.As if that wasn’t enough, Hurricane Sandy wiped out his two biggest clients and a with them he lost a quarter of a million dollars in revenue. That hurts!

How he got his break & his journey with ClickFunnels

(For those that don’t know, Russel Brunson is the founder of the $360 million software business, ClickFunnels, which has helped millions of entrepreneurs start and scale their business.)


Henry found Russell Brunson’s podcast and got involved in his coaching program as well. This allowed him to become a part of Russell’s inner circle, which would prove highly valuable later on.

But even in the early days of working with Russell, Henry didn’t have the kind of break out success that he has today.

One thing I really admire about Henry is that he didn’t get scared away by the challenges in front of him. Instead, he doubled down on what he was good at and confronted the challenges head-on.He was negative in his bank account but because he has always had a good tolerance for risk and he knew that it’s not “if this works but when”, he was able to take the leap and keep pushing towards his goals.

This is a key message for entrepreneurs: Being so sure of your product or service that you know it’ll catch on will help you persevere through the tough times.

Henry jokes that in the earlier days of Russell’s podcast the cover art looked like a dinosaur designed it, so he took it upon himself to designed a new one. Turns out, Russell loved the new design so much he would bring Henry on as the in-house designer for everything ClickFunnels.

Russell needed a quality designer to solidify the brand for his fast-growing company, and Henry was the man for the job. Russell hired him full time and from there he began doing all the brand and design work for ClickFunnels, which has been a big contributing factor in their massive success. 

This was the first time Henry worked for a $100 million dollar brand, hence the name “Million Dollar Brander.”Russell and Henry have developed such a strong relationship that they still work together this day.

Henry’s advice for entrepreneurs starting out

Henry has some great advice for entrepreneurs who are just starting out. He says,

“Say yes to everything and no opportunity is too big or too small”

Focus on getting as much experience and exposure as possible and then leverage that experience in your marketing to show that you are who people that you are who you say you are.

He worked for free for many months before he got a big break with a cover band and within two years that turned into him doing every nightclub flyer design from new jersey to New York to Connecticut. That’s also how he met Bon Jovi’s brother and got involved with the Bon Jovi team.

Core principles

Henry follows three core values that have helped him not only build his multimillion-dollar business, but also his life in general.

  1. Know who you are
  2. Show and prove your expertise
  3. Don’t take shit from anyone

How to Scale Your Business

Henry’s got some great tips for how authority brands and consultants can scale their business. He says,

“The same way you start your business and brand is not the same way your going to scale it”

Working with human capital is different than selling software, you don’t scale your business by doubling your client base.

“What you want to do is work with less people and make more money.”

Becoming extremely selective about who he works with has helped Henry scale his business to where it is now.Henry encourages you to ask yourself this:

“What is one client worth to you?”

A great analogy that he makes is the one to Warren Buffett’s approach to investing. Warren relates his process of investing to a punch card with only 20 slots. As soon as you punch out #20 you're done, no more investing.

The same can be said for scaling your business. This especially applies to service-based businesses involving human capital. It’s not the quantity of clients you bring in but that quality. The same can be said for other examples such as Real Estate. The people who make the most money in real estate don’t necessarily sell the most house, they just sell the most expensive ones and have the best clients.

Henry practices what he preaches by only working with 10 clients at a time who are a highly motivated group of individuals dedicated to taking their business to the next level.
