Good tip, it works like a periscope, the title made me think of a other alternative to directly look at eclipses.
(Maybe unsafe to do idk)
Less common to have but safe are welders glasses/mask.
I haven not heard of the Disc one...
Yes, a welders mask would work, unfortunately I misplaced my set ;)
Good share! Although I wouldn't try the disc until you have researched it well, from a few different sources... I'm a safety girl :)
It's definitely needed to research it better and there is probably difference with brands as wel, it's better to be safe.., it can only be tried 2 times in the worst case.
NASA says that most welding lenses are too low a shade. Mine are shade 10 and they say no lower than shade 12 is acceptable. I looked through 2 layers of shade 10 today to see what it looks like and it was quite dark (considerably darker than through a single lens) so perhaps that might be OK? Hopefully it won't burn out the chip in my camera because I'll try taking some pictures too. Safest way is to watch the eclipse in the electronic display screen of a digital camera.
