One of the most beautiful flowers. Although attractive, both Vinca major and Vinca minor can be invasive in some regions where they are introduced species because rapid spread chokes out native plant species and alters habitats. Affected areas include parts of Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the United States, especially coastal California. In its natural rage along the dry coasts of southern Madagascar, Catharanthus roseus is considered weedy and invasive, often self-seeding prolifically in disturbed areas along roadsides and in fallow fields. However, it is also widely cultivated and naturalized in tropical and subtropical areas of the world such as Australia, Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan and the United States.
