When the electronic devices go for a swim, think rice.

Some time back, the water pipes in my art studio/gallery froze and burst, causing a flood that literally turned the art studio/gallery into a giant indoor lake.

Unfortunately, my soft leather "computer bag" happen to be <As I'm sure you can take a guess> on the floor; and... Sighs both my IPad and my MacBook Pro were both inside.

Now, as if it weren't bad enough, having a fountain of gushing water, streaming from an indoor water pipe, for 10-12 hours, the night time temperatures became so cold (below freezing) that by morning my MacBook Pro, when I took it out of the "soft leather computer bag" was literally...frozen shut.

My first thought was:
Well this sucks

Then the sound of light went off inside my head and thought two chimed in:

I remembered "Rice" pulled the water out of my phone some time back; "rice"... I need rice, LOTS and lots of rice.

Several bags, I over compensated you definitely don't need 20 lbs of rice, but that is the amount I had to work with.

I opened the rice bags and promptly emptied a portable jewelry case and from there began pouring the bags of rice into the case.

I then put the MacBook Pro as well as the IPad into the rice; and from there I continued pouring bags until both pieces of technology were completely covered.

I focused on flood damage control, water gushing clean up and ultimately I just left the technology alone, buried in the rice, for roughly 2 weeks.

Then came the first moment of unpacked truth.
A happy little jingle of technology, that translated to the sound, VIOLA.

Yes!

After drowning in a flood, my IPad booted and worked perfectly.

Whoot whoot! (feel the excitement)!

Then came the (nervous and anxious) second moment of unpacked truth.

Dun dun dun....
(You know that mysterious jingle that leaves you suspended in the unknowing state of wonderment)....

Waiting....
Hoping...
Wondering...

Haaaaa!

There it is....The sound of Apple..."booting"....it was like music to my eyes.
Yes! Everything works!

Here comes another, Whoot whoot!

Admittedly, I do have a permanent "water mark" that stretches across the screen (in the form of a slightly faded band of light discoloration) but that's it; and quite thankfully, after having both my electronic devices go for an unfortunate swim, I can gladly work with a strip of the screen, being slightly lighter than the rest of the screen.

Rarely are we prepared for unplanned adversity; so with that thought and with gratitude, I wanted to share forward the beauty of focusing on the positive, as well as the persevering joy of celebrating achieved success.

In times of hardship, may mental clarity, focus and positive thinking be with you.
