The Best Tools for Digital Marketing + How You Can Become a Social Media Manager
I work as a freelance social media manager. After four weeks in Norway, my company now has more than ten customers and it's already a full time job. I rent a desk at a very cool coworking space in the city and I'm so happy about it.
Here are some of the tools that I can recommend if you want to do your own marketing or tools to get to know if you want to become a social media manager.
Kajabi - this tool costs a bit but you can build a website, courses, membership sites and landing pages here. They even have a tool for email marketing. GREAT tool, but it's a bit pricy.
Mailchimp - for email marketing. There are tons of options on Mailchimp and it's relatively easy to use.
Canva - for everything graphic. It's so easy to use and it's free! If you only test one of these tools, let it be this one.
Google Analytics - if you sell your product or service from your website, this is a very helpful tool. You get information about where the visitors on your website is from, how long time they spent there and where they found your website.
Google Disk or Dropbox - both are great storage tools and I use these to share folders with my customers for easy access. And because your computer can crash or get stolen at any time! Keep your documents and pictures safe.
Google News - I create content for my customers and sometimes I just want to share a link to something new and relevant on a relevant topic. That is when I use Google News.
And of course I'm also using social media like Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.
Most of my clients found me on social media or on Google. If you want to become a social media manager, I recommend that you contact your dream client and offer to run their social media for free for a while. Then you use them as a reference client on your website.
Then you could take on a couple of more companies for a cheap price to get more experience. Use social media to tell everyone else what you do for these companies and then you will get more clients if you do a good job. Make sure to spend some time on SEO on your webiste too.
Find your niche. Don't try to sell something that everyone needs. It's almost impossible. Narrow down your target group. It's a lot more easy.
I offered to work for my clients at an hourly rate, but I also offered them a deal where they commited to 30 hours a week for an ever lower hourly rate. My hourly rate isn't very high in the first place, because I would rater work for small companies and have a lot of work.
What is your favorite marketing tool?
Great software and services tips. Thank you for sharing your experiences with each.
Thank you for reading! It's always fun to share your experience with something new. :)
Some good suggestions-- I use a little bit of everything; twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Google+ and others... even hoping to add Steemit to the mix, as it develops. Still looking for a good piece of management software that can run/schedule and post to a multitude of accounts across a multitude of platforms... "everything in one place." But it seems most are good at ONE thing, not so much at others...
Check out Hootsuite. It is a website and an app for Android (may be on iPhone too).
Thanks, I'll check it out! The last manager I was using (tweetdeck) discontinued their desktop version... I need more than a smartphone screen to manage 5 twitter accounts, 8 Facebook pages, 2 LinkedIn accounts and loads of bloggers and tumblrs... but preferably without paying $100 a month....
I am not sure exactly what accounts you can manage from Hootsuite (I use the free one for FB and Twitter accounts I have). I believe the paid version is only $9.95 or so a month and offers a ton of additional functionality.
I agree! I want to make a Steemit accout for my company in the future! I think it it's kind of a good thing that that tool doesn't exist, because it's better to tailor your content to the platform you are posting it on. What kind of company do you have? :)
Nice post. I have been using Mega.nz for my cloud storage and sharing. Google drive and Dropbox are good and user friendly but the space is limited and Mega gives you 50GB free and sharing content is easy.
