A New Zealand Summers Day ☀️ Chasing Waterfalls!
We have spent the last 4 days locked up inside away from the cold storm that sent havoc across the North Island of New Zealand with heavy rain and winds up to 120km/h!!
After a sleep in I pulled the blinds to feel the soft touch of the morning sun and knew today was a day for exploring!
Just 10mins down the road we have a nice cold river with lots of little waterfalls and waterholes that are perfect for those hot summer days.
Getting there is a little difficult.. You can't see the spot from the road so you need to follow the track and listen out for the waterfalls!
After a few river crossings we made it to down to the waterfall! The rocks are boiling hot and the water is chilly! A perfect summer combination!
Surrounded by native birds chirping away in the Kauri Trees and the sound of fresh water flowing down the rocks it is a really relaxing vibe!
Being school holidays and the only sunny day of the week it was a little crowded but if you walk up or down river you will find a waterhole/waterfall to yourself =)
There is a small rocky ledge about 4m high that everyone jumps off into one of the main waterholes.
You won't find any rubbish bins in the area. But there is also no rubbish to be seen. I think everyone is so amazed by the beauty of this place they want to keep it that way.
Stay tuned for next weeks mission!
Oh and leave me a comment on what you prefer.. Waterholes/waterfalls or Beaches?
Waterholes/waterfalls by far!
Ohhhh yeaahhhh!!! =)
That first pic is stunning. Here I am just enjoying my 30-degree days with beaches... I need to go waterfall hunting!
Thanks! Go find a waterfall! Plenty here in NZ if you get to hot!
It is a dream to come to NZ sometime :(
