Newark Comic Con - A geeky Family day out for a family of geeks!

Sentinel Squad (https://www.facebook.com/thesentinelsquaduk/) on parade
It's taken me a few days to catch up with work and get myself back on an even keel since the weekend so this is being posted up far later than planned. Last Sunday the family headed out to Newark Comic Con 2, out most local of local comic cons so no excuse really!
We not only went to look around (and buy shiny things) but we had a stall! This isn't our first Comic Con stall and usually, I'd have some of my spare comics for sale but this time space was at a premium as @scarletleonard's business is going from strength to strength, making glorious glass art.

We got out photo taken by the esteemed Dr Cornelius Porridge (one day I'll tell you about him!)
As you can see, @scarletleonard is doing her best Lara Croft impression and I decided not to push my luck this year and concentrate on watching the kids. Last year I was Deadpool and barely got 5 minutes to myself with people wanting photos.
So how did the day go? I was utterly EPIC. @scarletleonard had lots of interest in her glass art and sold several pieces. I took most of the profits and went the comic stall opposite us and bought "a couple of comics". This is code to my wife meaning "please don't be made but I may have gone overboard". At final count, there were 114 comics and yes, that is a Booster Gold #1 sat on the top, I got the whole run of 25, which is the first appearance of Booster Gold.
Just a couple... honest!
My other big win of the day was meeting Tim Rose. You might be forgiven for asking who but then wondering why you don't know his name... He's Admiral Akbar! Not only that he's the door knockers from Labriynth, Tik-Tok (the round robot) from Return to Oz, Aslan from The Chronicles of Narnia... he's a puppeteer on lots of the muppet movies not to mention Treasurer from The Dark Crystal and HOWARD THE DUCK!!!
On top of that, he's a lovely guy, we chatted for about 10 minutes and had a great laugh. He told me some backstage stories and we nattered a bit about this and that, very easy going. I think he was glad to speak to a fan after the guy before me, who had him sign about 10 different sealed Admiral Akbar toys which you just knew would be on eBay before the day was done.
Trap be damned, I can't repel a shirt of that magnitude!!!
So the rest of the day was taken up with working on the stall and talking to cosplayers. Here's a little album of photos from the day.

Sons of Ecto (https://www.facebook.com/sonsofectouk/) checking one of @scarletleonard's octopuses for the paranormal!

Wolvster Steve (https://www.facebook.com/WolverSteve9/) showing @scarletleonard what glass should be used for...

That's my lad getting a few tips on the future from Marty

And there's my little mermaid, posing as usual!
All photos in this were taken by either myself or @scarletleonard (with 2 exceptions - see below). Where suitable the cosplayer or their group has been named and linked. Names were omitted where permission was not sought or link only to a personal profile.
The photo of Tim Rose was taken by his promoter.
The photo of Aquaman was taken by his partner - who was Princess Mera earlier in the day but (wisely) tapped out due to the heat.
