What is Life?Part #1
Life is life to put it a simple way.But it is much more deeper than that.
Life means different things to so many people.To some,life is all about wealth and possession.others see life as full of ups and downs.While others take life as a chance.
I am not here to define life to you in a philosophical manner.But to simply explain to you what God,our maker tells us about the meaning of life.
At this juncture,I must state that no one knows about a thing except the one who makes or creates it. If you own a car and in the course of driving it,it becomes faulty.You tried all you can to fix and you couldn't .Even though you are the owner of the car,that does not make you know what would have been the cause of the mechanical or electrical fault.
Why?
It is because you are enjoying value for what the manufacturer has done in making the car.So,the best person to know the real cause of the car's breakdown would be the manufacturer.Even mechanics that repair faulty cars,would not be able to do any repair work except the have learned from the manufacturer what it takes to repair the car.
In the same way,nobody could give a clear and detailed definition of life except the one who gives life.That is ,God.And God in HIS wisdom gave us a manual by which we would know his mind as regards his creatures.Man being the glory of His creation was not left in ignorance as regards knowing God's mind.
The expression of God's mind to us is in the word of God called the Bible.
Now, I will take you to the word of God and then discover what our maker says about life to us.
In the book of James 4:15,the word of God says that"... what is your life?It is even a vapour,that appears for a little time,and then vanishes away."
Jesus in his words to a man who has issues of sharing inheritance with his brother,says,in Luke 12:15;"And he said unto him,Take heed,and beware of covetousness: for a man's life consists not in the abundance of the things which he possess."
From these two passages of the word of God,we can see in clear words that life is:
- Temporal and not permanent or eternal.It can dissipate like vapor at any time.
2.Life is not about making money,becoming rich and wealthy.
You see that in the light of God's word to us,we are to live our life not for things that is temporal or become materialistic.Our life is worth much more than these.
