STEEMZINE #17 - Seeing Strangers Run In The Olympics Is What The World Needs

Every 4 years, we cheer on people. People we don't even know. People from other countries, people of different color. We pick someone and support them in their pursuit to follow their dreams, to serve their country and to honour their capabilities.

There has been great negativity surrounding the Olympic games. But, aside from the needless controversy, the world needs the Olympic games.

We are often so caught up in the dramas of life, the news is negative story, after negative story. If everything is fine in the world, then what would we be reporting on? Right?

That's the thing, we are consistently focusing on what's wrong not what's right. We give voice to madness, we unassumingly champion negative news and we buy into it. We turn on our televisions and are bombarded with it constantly.

The Olympics, The World Cup and The Tour De France.

These sporting events are different, we mostly all tune in at some stage of another and support, we champion people and we champion each other.

Sure, like anything there is the negative stories along the way, but funnily enough these always seem to drift off sooner or later and the positive stories triumph. We have highlights that focus on the great moments and we are inspired. People are immortalised doing what they love become symbols of hope for generations to come.

The world needs to watch strangers run, because we need hope. The world needs great news, because that is what keeps people going. The world needs to be inspired and thats what these athletes do.

Differences are broken down and a common ground is found through these events. Religion does not matter, nor race or borders. We are one.

We compete in a healthy and positive environment. We cultivate this in the pursuit of pushing one another to be better.

The world needs to watch strangers run, because it is a reminder. That we are all made from the same material, flesh and blood.
